    Stoopid jokes

Why do elephants paint their feet yellow? So they can hide upside down in a bowl of custard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Instant Potato Flakes - Smash

Instant Mash and a can of corn beef. We call it pink splodge, top tip is to make the mash a little too dry as the moisture comes out of corn beef, otherwise it is too runny. Also used to add some instant gravy to make a meaty filling, but probably not healthy, meal. Sent from my iPhone...

    Arctic smock hood

When I bought mine from Survival AIDS in the late 80’s, the first thing I was advised was to remove the wire from the hood. To roll it I laid it flat front down, folded the side flaps in then rolled. There were some cords, which fed through the coat loop and back tied with a bow, so it could be...

    Time to Update Down Jacket

Update 2. Been wearing the jacket most days, it rained the other day so I put the hood up, pulled the draw cord on the hood and it came out. After several emails I have the option of sending the coat to Scottish Mountain Gear for repair and wait 6-8 weeks for a repair or send it back to JW and...

Are you left handed, right handed, mixed or ambidextrous?

Left handed for single handed things, right handed for most two handed things, except kayak paddling, right handed for canoe though. Naturally a left handed shot for both firearms and bow, but consider myself ambidextrous as modern military rifles were right handed, weapon handling drills were...

    Winter Boots

I tried them without the liners tonight, I only walked half a mile and cut the walk short. It was like wearing your dads wellies to school, only worse. My feet slopped around, the uppers dig in to my calf’s and my ankle bones sit at just the right level to run on the seams so that they are now...

    Winter Boots

I have the Muckmaster boot, which according to their website has a comfort rating of -30, I added wool insoles and wore British Army Arctic Socks, standing around watching football my feet got cold - walking the dog they are fine, as I am moving but standing still they weren’t cutting it...

    Winter Boots

I haven’t, I suspect they will be loose and slip around. I deliberately bought them so they weren’t snug, even with two pairs of socks on as I only want them for cold weather when standing around/walking the dog, I have walking boots for any serious walking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Time to Update Down Jacket

It’s better than the Tog24 coat it replaced and has held up pretty well so far. I don’t expect it to get the same level of use that previous ones did as I have now left Scouting, so is for walking the dog really. I’ve been a fan of theirs since the early days, my Orange Paw Print fleece has...

    Time to Update Down Jacket

I ended up replacing my waterproof with a 3 in 1 Jack Wolfskin that has an artificial down style inner jacket, which is showerproof so now have lots of coats to choose from [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Winter Boots

Hi all, Thought I would update with where I have got to. I bought some felt insoles and British Army Arctic socks to wear with my Muckboots - feet got cold the week before Christmas. Saw these on GoOutdoors https://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/15896410/meindl-men-s-solden-winter-boots-15896410 Coupled...

    Are you a coffee head?

Camp Coffee isn’t - it’s chicory. I like my coffee, but use Pods for convenience, I have an aeropress somewhere, it used to be at Work but was brought home 2 years ago and I don’t know where it’s gone. Won’t drink Americano, rather go without. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Original Norgy Cotton Feltskjorte Shirts Made In Norway and A German copy?

I remember when the AMF(L) got issued theirs and we were still on the KF shirt. Apparently the KF shirt was actually better for the UK climate, but was itchy so everyone that could afford them went out and bought Norgies, I think I’ve still got mine somewhere 30 years old and still do the job...
