I think these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10x-Universal-Outdoor-Camping-Gas-Lamp-Lantern-Replacement-Mantles-Cover/283263259638 are likely the same as these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Coleman-Standard-String-Tie-Mantles/dp/B00B110UKM/ I may buy both and see what happens.

    Tilly lamps/gas lamps etc

Thanks Nice65 - it worked in a pinch, there wasn't a massive difference in size if any. There's a set of 10 I've seen for £3 with strings which might be compatible. I'll report back.

    Tilly lamps/gas lamps etc

Stupid question I can probably answer, but all these "specialist" mantles that only fit x or y lamp - does it actually matter much? My Colman Dual Fuel 295 shiny new mantles got broken within 5 minutes of being fitted on site - big hole due to stupidity. As the local shop in Dolgellau didn't...

    Thanks!

A big thanks to Tony, Shelly and all the mods as well as all my friends old and new for making an excellent moot, as short as my visit was! I look forward to seeing you all again next year and hope to make the winter moot if it's on!

Tilley Lamp Servicing at the Moot

Mine has been pulsing which usually means it has built up lacquer due to long term storage of fuel. Apparently the fix is soak it in pure ethanol and if I'm lucky that'll fix it. I went and bought some cheap mantels from a camping shop, cut the top cord and used some metal wire to pin it to the...

    Uses for baby milk tins

I've got a fair few of these with plastic lids. What use are they? I could bring a couple to the moot if anyone needs some. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

    Packing ready...

Step 1, review previous moots and decide that it's not worth breaking the axle and to buy a trailer Step 2, buy cheap trailer, realise it's screwed Step 3, fix cheap trailer (now expensive trailer) Step 4, go on holiday to mallorca??? Step 5, realise you're going to scout camp before the moot...

"New" Trailer. Well, it is now.

Same old cover, not much life left in it sadly but I replaced the elastics so it does look a little better! There's some on eBay for 5*3 trailers so probably will just buy one when I need it. If you find a material let me know! Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

"New" Trailer. Well, it is now.

Bit of fun for the day was rebuilding this trailer I bought in "fair condition" from eBay and only needed new elastic for the lid. As it was, the suspension units had rotted and by the time I got it home it was pretty much falling to pieces. I welded new plates (my stick welding skills are 2nd...

    Access to the estuary

Yeah. That might work. But it's a long walk and the naughty corner is closer. Drink enough and you won't need the cardboard either. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

    Access to the estuary

I disagree. The best thing to take is several bottles of rum and other assorted alcohol. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

    Access to the estuary

It's fairly tidal and the banks are fairly steep. You may be able to do it though. Others have brought kayaks and I'm assuming they weren't just for decoration. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk

Seasoned and chopped firewood at the Moot

Usually in addition. Never known the logs to be soggy unless it's been raining heavily. I've very rarely needed those logs, plenty of firewood to be found too small for commercial enterprise on the trees. Most people's fires don't need the logs anyway. Sent from my ONEPLUS A5000 using Tapatalk
