Autumn's here, the spiders are trying to come indoors !

I must admit, I find peoples phobias of animals do make me laugh hard, I don't mean to and I do totally get that it's not nice when someone is fearful , but I genuinely can't help it.... I wouldn't however go out if my way to push that fear for someone... "oh you don't like spiders?" *throws...

K-9 (1989) gets another vote for me! Grew up watching that movie I'd vote for dog soldiers too...but yeh... different

@Toddy A small cup of vinegar is good to get rid of fruit flies.... well... it attracts them, so I'm not sure the range of attraction... but they often drown in it.

Autumn's here, the spiders are trying to come indoors !

Ugh, I really don't like spiders... As the man of the house I have to be.... well..the man of the house, so they're my job to deal with. What I've noticed over the last few months is the appearance of really small jumping spiders, I must admit, they're kinda cute. I'd say they're sort of money...

    Banned dogs - thoughts

I've just today read about another attack but apparently not an XL bully. It just reminded me of something I read a month ago about how now is the time lockdown puppies are reaching their sort of troublesome adolescence.. Makes me wonder if all this is somewhat coincidental, poor owners dogs are...

@British Red Ooof, can't be banning booze. The tax loss would be huge. @Wildgoose You've made a fantastic post. I really like your comment regarding honesty and it's so true. I know my dog is not the biggest fan of excited big dogs (typically males), if they come up to her all gung ho she...

@Cuckoo996 I too hope people are not offended by your points, they're valid...I certainly don't disagree with you when I see how some dogs are humanised, but perhaps I do disagree in your own eyes. My dear doggo is a great friend and she enjoys snuggling up close, but we have various...

What would you not be able to do if your phone died ?

To be fair, the lack of situational awareness seems to be ingrained in a lot of folk I see these days... phone or otherwise!! :lmao:

    Banned dogs - thoughts

@Decacraft "Of all the stories of attacks in the news, have all owners been general folk or the kind that want this kind of dog as a status?" THIS is exactly the question that needs asking before I think dogs should be banned. As stated too many times now, I'm not a fan of these ego breeds...

@Paul_B ....I'm aware that small dog bites can still hurt, I have the scars on my hand from my dear near blind & deaf terrier who took hold of my hand instead of her squeaky toy during play time.... I'm not convinced its a sentence that requires a continual back and forth. We all know small...

What would you not be able to do if your phone died ?

@Disabled Preppers .....aaaaaaaand breathe.... Perhaps not really the place for this, however there are 2 sides to everything. I think phones/the distraction of phones, really help people with anxiety issues to have a distraction, especially in public places or in hospitals where it's rare...

    Banned dogs - thoughts

Have I created a monster with this thread  Sorry to all, but I'm glad to see there is a lot of civility and thoughts going on. I would say in the perfect world "It's not the X that does it, its the owner" I think that is actually a very fair statement, as @Paul_B has said a few times, you...

    Banned dogs - thoughts

@Paul_B I feel this is very much a chicken and egg situation. There are, in my experience 3 types of owners: 1) Those that know, 2) Those that don't know, 3) Those that are detestable. Small dogs can be ratbags for sure, but they are not purchased in order to be a ratbag, they're more often...

    Banned dogs - thoughts

I think every single comment here raises a valid point regardless of whether or not they conflict with each other. I think a dog being a nasty ____ is not beyond any breed, however as an adult, small breeds regardless of how vicious are likely easy to deal with. In fact, I remember a good few...

    Banned dogs - thoughts

I'm seeing this discussed quite a bit due to various stories in the news regarding XL bullys. People suggesting no point banning dogs, no bad dogs just bad owners, better to make owners have licences etc etc Whats everyones thoughts on the matter? I'd agree that bad owners create bad dogs, but...

    Futurproofing your house

With regards to covid, we have reassessed what we do work wise and what our plans are going forward and now have a new idea, but have yet to begin it due to various reasons. At home we haven't changed too much as realistically we faired pretty well during the whole thing.... My wife did a lot...

    Futurproofing your house

@ManFriday4 Stop baiting or being baited. You're not sorry in the slightest, perhaps nor should you be. Before you said your very valid (as backed up by @Woody girl and confirmed by @TeeDee) comment regarding your system heating itself above 60 for an hour, I too, with minimal plumbing...
