Favourite carry-able cooking pan and favourite mug and why for both

That also makes a lot of sense really eg most of the heat will heat the stove metal with some of the heat going through the holes. So the old style US military type Open top will be the best. Really never thought about it before but yes common sense.

Wood Burning Stove Stainless steel vs. Titanium

Even hiking the extra weight is minimal really ( not that bad ) and do you also what to risk it warping/damaging in the middle of a few days out ruining your adventures.

    Watch repair vs new watch?

Repair it, relative had a seiko and no one locally were able to repair it. My sister took it to Florida a local jewellers and they repaired it no problem. I always believe a good watch should be repaired and it will probably have memories to it.

Are GPS units really necessary these days?

Me too, it’s part of the fun being out using your brain, occasionally getting lost and correcting that. Spend the majority of my hillwalking life walking alone, another so called no no but I wouldn’t want any other way.

    Solid fuel alternatives

Going to have fun again trying all these. For the last 30 years I have used hexi & twigs in my hexi stove or on 3 nails. Just enjoyed the ease of them or I used gas stoves on some occasions, mainly longer hillwalks. Tried other fuels, have not enjoyed the experience or not got on with them. So...
