Are you left handed, right handed, mixed or ambidextrous?

Mixed. Right handed for writing, sawing, hammering, and shooting a gun but left handed with a bow or catapult. Right footed with a football but Goofy footed on a skateboard. Maybe I'm just confused :(

    Old West Firearm question

Im pretty sure that I read about a 1300 yard kill made during the American civil war with a Whitworth rifle that had a hexagonal bore and (I think) percussion primer. Worth reading up on Whitworth rifles if you've got a bit of time.

    Camouflaging an olive tent

Park it behind a bush, job jobbed. I generally find olive green to be at the acceptable end of the cammo spectrum. It's subdued but not full on Walt colours so you don't look like a TA wanabee.

Sounds like Mulhollands (off McKlevy) hornbeam stick.

    CWC watches

Don't get me wrong, there's something I love about mechanical watches. A real marvel to look at. But it's not their timekeeping cos just about any quartz watch is more accurate. Just to throw a couple of other options into the mix, Lorus do a couple of "Field Watches" and one with a titanium...

    CWC watches

Don't Seiko Kinetic watches still need a replacement capaciter (or the more recent Titanium Carbon Lithium Ion accumulator )to store the charge they produce? Pretty much the same size as a battery, then mechanical watches need to be serviced and oiled every few years as well so I'm not seeing...

What excites you about spring arriving?

I'll settle for driving to and from work in the light for a start.

Better fixed blade steels in the UK/EU these days?

Hard to sharpen? How so? I have a DMT diafold that I bought for twentysomething quid in about 1999 and a bit of leather glued to a bit of wood charged with polishing compound and I've managed to sharpen my Fallkniven powder steel edged knives and a ZDP189 blade with them just fine. What part...

Where do we come from - What are our backgrounds?

Not read any others, oddly enough I've never even looked for others, I'll have a ratch now though. Another book that made an impact at an early age was Survival by Russel Evans about a Soviet prisoner who escapes from a gulag and has to learn to survive in Siberia. More or less a kids book...

    Temporary Light weight Shed/Structure

I have an Expandastore container. It's about ten foot long and condensation is an issue. I could line it out and insulate it to sort that out but it's pretty secure (not shipping container secure but pretty good all the same) and I've had it for maybe twelve years. I didn't put it together as...

    Kydex assistance please.

I have absolutely no experience with kydex but as a carpenter who has some Record/Irwin quick grip clamps, everyone who uses them rates them. One of those tools that just helps out in so many situations although for me the 150mm version is a bit small for most uses, the 450 one is good and the...

    Red light head torch

After having a few Tikkas over the years and being unimpressed with them long term* I got a Black Diamond Storm. Think its a 375. It's got two buttons and a lot of modes, takes a little time to get used to the number of modes but personally I cant see me going back to Petzl again now, I really...

A good tutorial on embossing/debossing leather.

I've just spotted this on Youtube, now personally I've used wooden print blocks in a vice to deboss images onto my leather dog collar and lead that I made. Worked a treat and really wasn't hard to do. However this chap shows far and away more detailed techniques for doing logos and so on. His...

    Power cut kit?

Quite a few items off peoples powercut kit are pretty much just standard gear in site workers vans anyway. Loads of 5 Ah (and a couple of 9 Ah) batteries for cordless tools. LED site lighting, USB charging fitting to go on a cordless battery and it charges phones and whatever. Great for camping...

    Power cut kit?

Aye, doglead, black Diamond headtorch, dog jacket (Bull Lurcher, doesnt have the deep coat my sheepdogs had) on the back of the back door. Oh and the woodburning stove is cos I'm a carpenter and it seems a shame to put offcuts in the skip. Nice to have a choice of heating fuel sometimes.

    Power cut kit?

Carlisle flooded quite badly in 2015, the main substation was down at an area called Willowholme* and that flooded so mucb of the town was without power. I have camping stoves, numbering on the obsessive amount and although we have central heating that wasn't working I've also fitted a...

Where do we come from - What are our backgrounds?

The building I was born in was a workhouse* and I've worked for the company that made the Millennium Falcons loadbay door**. I live less than 50 miles from Moscow***. *A longtime before it was turned into the City General hospital and I was born there. **For about a week and not at the time...
