Hmm, well anyway. The knife is good for what I use it for which is pretty much a rough knife for work.
Mostly cutting hemp insulation batts which is awful to cut with a handsaw, a stanley knife is too short and the very long serrated insulation knife that Hultafors make doesn't cut well, thats...
Err... point of order but the Eiffel tower is more of a testament to Puddle Iron, not steel, plus I suspect that edge retention in a moist country wasn't high up the list of requirements for the Golden Gate Bridge and Rolls Royce Phantoms either :)
Oh, seemed a interesting bloke with a huge amount of practical experience. I valued his input.
Dunno what to say really, he seemed like he really lived the deal instead of just dreamt it.
I have the GK non stainless one with green grip, generally I prefer stainless given the choice cos I just don't go for that tosh about metal having soul, I just want it to work. Maybe stay unused for months then get used a good bit then unused for ages again.
I've got handplane blades in all...
Yeah, I have recently bought a Tilak Odin Ventile jacket (sure wasn't 29 quid either) and the fabric on this surplus jacket is significantly more coarse in its weave than the Tilak
I've only tested it in the sink so far and the hood held water well, better than I expected.
I'm sure I'll know a...
Well, I bought one of those Ventile jackets, I'm pretty much on the cusp of large to extra large and the biggest size they had on Amazon was large so I got that.
For a start off, its lighter grey than I thought, no problem but worth mentioning all the same.
No zips on it and popper buttons and...
There's a place I sometimes go to, have gone to for over 40 years on and off.
It's generally kept pretty tidy although there's almost always a fire hearth and coresponding fire scar. Its really not the end of the world and within a couple of hundred yards there's the scar from where lead was...
Just a few I sometimes keep an eye on, no links cos there's too many.
AVE.
Cinefix. Film reviews.
Curious droid. Space science stuff.
David Stanton.
Primative technology. Just well filmed with no words, just explained totally by actions.
Essential craftsman. Chilled out bloke who knows a lot...
They're on Amazon also but another nine quid.
Likely too small for me (usually an XL) but I'd be interested to know wgat they're like.
Amazon Ventile Jacket.
Nowt to do with me but I just spotted em, not in big sizes but if its right its a Ventile jacket for 20 quid.

I have a Manly Wasp which I rate as a decent fully legal pocketknife.
Just under 3 inch blade made from a damn good steel (S90V) and its got a very strong backspring.
It just isn't a one hand opener at all so those wallys on Youtube who are always flicking knives open and closed like over...
Depends where I am but one I like is the dead sections from the inside of a gorse bush, cut with secateurs.
Sometimes a bit smokier than I would like but it doesn't half go some.
As far as diamond hones are concerned, I've had a DMT Diafold for yonks, it's small enough, tough and does the job.
It also allows me to sharpen blades with ZDP-189 or S110V which in my eyes are so much better for a small penknife than old style carbon steels that it's a joke.
There are a few...
I have masses of old chisels rescued from my local secondhand toolsale place, Marples (Shamroxk emblem), Storemont, Schmidt and Zeigler (with a nice bull emblem) Henry Taylor paring chisels, Robert Sorby (Kangaroo emblem) and even one from Penrith (T. Althams and Sons).
Worth getting the...
Is this the "proving that blokes don't read instructions" thread?
Instrucrions? They're just for the people who don't know what they're doing!
Can I also add to the things that swiss army knives can do is the hook on the swisschamp makes a good exhaust spring puller.
If you don't know what an...
Well, after athe bluebells, the honeysuckle and orchids have come out in one of the areas I've been walking the dog. The place smells lovely at the moment.
