I do a bit of timber framing at work so a 300mm nail bar/catspaw is pretty much always on my toolbelt.
I got one of the Stiletto titanium nail bars (secondhand) a few years ago and the short end (the right angled end) is quite good ut the long end with the gentle curve just isnt that good at...
If I remember it right Seiko Kinetics have a capaciter to store the energy instead of a battery (when standard anyway) and when they were almost out of charge they ticked every two seconds. I assume the solar one does the same? There's manuals online to find out.
Its a bit of a weird one...
Going to need some hard facts and numbers cos otherwise it's just an elder whining about the "Youth of today" which they've been doing for centuries.
Personally I think the kids of today are more accepting of other people who are different from them, less racist, more environmentally conscious...
I used to have a couple of those Light my fire placky spork things, liked the shape of em but they kept snapping after six months or so use at bait times in the van.
The. I helped a mate set up a rally computer in her Landrover for when she did a rally in Africa.
In return she gave me one of the...
Wonder what he thought he was doing?
They'll be gamekeepers all over the land trying that one now.
Not that gamekeepers ever disrupt bird of prey nests, no siree. No way.
Not today, but yesterday as I was walking the dog.
A Kingfisher flying low and level down the river, then ten to twenty feet behind it and not in quite as colourful suite, a Dipper.
Then as I was thinking it couldn't get much better a Heron took to the air from the river.
I didn't want to watch this on my phone but as it popped up on my telly Youtube feed I caught it on that.
All good information, well presented.
I've spent enough time on farms and in rural areas to know that often security is an absolute joke and when its mentioned there's often some berk who...
Needing a knife to eat an apple?
I'm 52 and still have all my teeth (three fillings though so its not all perfect) and I don't carry an apple as an excuse to carry a knife. Have you no teeth?
Reminds me of the W.C Fields quote.
"Always carry a flaggon of Whisky incase of snakebite. Also carry a...
Right handed, generally feet to the right, goofy footed on a skateboard, shoot a gun right handed but a bow and catapult like a left hander.
Make what you will of that.
When I was a kid we used to go over to the river Caldew at a place just by Carrock mine called Swineside.
I say we swam there but really we slid down a bit of a waterfall, did a few strokes in water never warmed by the sun, told our mates it was warm and nice then laughed when they believed us...
We've been legally licence free for a few years now.
Watch Netflix and Amazon plus Ch4 (mostly for their very good news) but no live programmes.
Also no BBC TV (which I have to say is no great loss, the news just isn't news and the only part I miss is early showings of Attenborough's stuff). ITV...
I always like the idea of brightly coloured knife handles.
If it's being used you don't see it anyway cos its in yer hand and if you drop it you can find it easy.
makes sense in my head anyway.
Its genuinely rare that I need a pen, just on invoice day.
Then I have a carpenters pencil sharpened to a chisel point for work (carpenter appropriately enough) and a lumber crayon for marking the frame codes on timber frames.
Got a pen in the van. Maybe if I was an officewallah I'd be...
That 22nd of Jan 63 pic kind of tallies with what I think about the change in head design in about 1960 as yours has that V shape on the side of the head.
I'm not positive by any means and if anyone finds proof I'm wrong I'd be happy to see it.
I'll see if I can ratch the 1937 one out as the...
Ahh, nice one.
You'll have spotted that the inner steel section has a date drop forged onto it.
I assume they don't change the date on the drop forging dies every day they start work so my guess is that the date is when the dies are made.
I have one with very loose washers that had a 1937 date...
I'm not afraid of the dark but am often walking the dog a few mins before six in the morning along by the river and in the local park.
My dog is great in the dark and can catch the frisbee that I can't see a second after its out of my hand. However, he's a lazy slacker McFly and sometimes...
I have a Black Diamond headtorch, its got two control buttons so the on off button doesn't have to cycle through a myriad of colours and powers everytime I knock it on.
There is a bit of a learning curve to it as it does a few colours and settings but most of thats done via the other button...
