    EDC lighters or firemakers

Dirt cheap turbo flame butane lighter. Costs about £3 lasts two years. I've tried Windmill, Silva & many other expensive lighters & they were no better.

Snugpak Elite 3 not very warm

Something that hasn't been discussed is what sleeping pad the OP. For me a quality sleep pad with good ground insulation often makes a massive difference to warmth.

Electronic Bushcraft, Sourcing Energy and building Radio Communication from Earth

No it isn't in fact it's the complete opposite of combustion. When you burn hydrogen (combustion) it combines with oxygen. This is the chemical process of oxidation. What you are describing is a reduction process. GCSE chemistry can help with a more detailed explanation

Make your own gammon and ham

Martha raises the best pork ever. We do our part by turning pork belly & loin into streaky & back bacon. It's unbelievably easy and produces incredible dry cured bacon that's so much better than that shop bought (happy to post links to the process). We've decided now to produce our own ham and...

Make your own gammon and ham

I could post similar links to pork rearing but, at the back of their minds, I think most people know what happens in factory farms. In many ways the farmers aren't to blame. Supermarkets demand cheap meat from producers. They do this because customers demand cheap meat. The really annoying...

Make your own gammon and ham

I'm increasingly resistant to eating supermarket meat. An article on the BBC about supermarket broiler chickens sadly didn't surprise me this week https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-68406398 Ross Cobbs (the standard meat chicken) grow to killing weight in 6 weeks flat. Ours take 26...

    EDC Pens?

I've had several keyring pens including Fischer Space pens & true utility. They all either broke or got lost by falling out of their holder. I'll look forward to hearing of something that works, currently I use the biro in my SAK

    Jerusalem Artichoke

I like them. They roast well and are easy to grow. John Seymour grew them as pig fodder, leaving them in the ground & letting the pigs root for them.

Why I hate (most) modern torches

I do find the very bright torches have a place - hunting for livestock in the dark being one. That said, as I mentioned in the video, that level of brightness isn't needed for walking around. It is good to have the option though!

Why I hate (most) modern torches

Hi mate! I don't object to Olight per se. Their Perun II headlight is awesome. Although it's magnetically charged I don't keep coins in my hair! Their little tiny rechargeable keyring torches are very good for the bulk. I just struggle with a premium pocket torch that isn't pocket friendly!

Why I hate (most) modern torches

In honour of the in depth discussion of my rant about modern torches from which in part Tony made the EDC forum, I thought I owed BCUK a video. In our latest video I demonstrate the issues I have with most modern "tacticool" torches and introduce one that I actually like. It's not my favourite...
