Happy Birthday from me as well

pot: my 14cm zebra billy which i treated myself to christmas 2008 at the "NT General Store" in Darwin. has been on quite a few adventures since then; 5years ago the place i was staying in got flooded at night (result of bad place selection and a nocturnal flash flood) which forced us to abandon...
i'm a bit of a grinch -- 24th evening i had a quiet one with the dog and cat; to get away from all the holiday hassle i went for an overnight trip yesterday and today during which i saw my first peccary
i did NOT buy it -- it was a gift from a very kind and generous form member -- but for me it's the Ben Orford "woodlander" i got in november
i also acored a brandnew "optimus" stove when helping a friend to sort her stuff for a yard sale and in march i got a hammock + 7.5 ft tarp in change for...
having had a (semi) nomadic lifestyle for many years meant sadly leaving items behind on more than one occasion (==due to weight/ space limits), but i tend to use items as long as possible and usually don't buy new stuff unless an item has worn out or been lost...

it looked a bit like he may not have lost it that accidentally (seems there's a bit of speculation on another forum in that regard) -- fact is he gave up without even trying another way to start a fire...

i just finished the adventures of a german slave trader who went on a long vacation on a carribean island (and invented the five-day-week as he had all work done by Friday :P ) -- interestingly the tool Robinson Crusoe mentions most often is the hatchet (despite location no mentioning of...
iirc it was another participant of the same season (#2?!) who accidentally rolled his ferro rod into the fire, BUT he kept going by using a bowdrill. the way it was shown on TV (i wasn't there of course!) how joe robinet lost his ferro rod made me think "hhmmm did he really loose it or...."

i'm living in a simple shelter and cook on fire, so my evening entertainment consists of whittling spoons, toggles from the offcuts (+ various other small projects like slingshot frames), campfire forging projects and the occasional sewing (for which i won't win any beauty prizes :P ) -- latest...
