Government consultation on banning large knives and machetes

I personally have no desire to own a crossbow and the only kind of archery I have ever practised does not require broadhead arrows but I can see that this is a rather ridiculous way to go as the only people with an interest in broadhead arrows so far as I am aware are historical re-enactors and...

    No right to roam.

It is all a matter of degree though, if you trespass on my allotment and pinch my vegetables I shall be annoyed, it is not a lot of land, but if you have thousands of acres of garden then it is another matter, depending on what you do with it, you probably do not need it all and no-one will...

    Primitive Tech Tree

I am not an archaeologist but borrowing from evolution in the biological world, we see that the same innovation can occur independently several times over. I am willing to gamble that certain tools and techniques were developed in more than one place and time as a need for them arose and where...

Bushcraft tools that could be classed as weapons?

Did you never hear of chemical warfare? Swedish fire a deadly weapon in the Viking arsenal.

    Weather to come.......

I had just started digging on my allotment and along comes the rain to spoil everything.

My goodness, augurs, aren't they banned by the Geneva convention yet?

Heads up - Post office not sending sharps after 22nd April

Posties tend to know their customers, no need to go through uneccesary ritual for the sake of it. I'd sooner trust my postie than most couriers who I have never seen before.

    buy or build a shed?

Visit your local allotments, lots of ideas how to build a shed from salvaged materials to found there. A popular one is old doors and window frames.

Heads up - Post office not sending sharps after 22nd April

I really doubt that the post office go to the considerable expense of X raying every parcel. I mean if you believe that you will believe that the BBC really do have detector vans checking to see if you are using Iplayer without a licence.

Heads up - Post office not sending sharps after 22nd April

Wrap it up in duct (duck) tape and call it a model aeroplane, who's gonna know?

    New knife laws

The current descriptions do anything but remove ambiguity, they give the police an excuse to come into your home, stretch a point and call your garden tools illegal and confiscate them because in their opinion they do not have a practical use, it is totally arbitrary.

    New knife laws

Coming up to an election so the Labour Party is trying to make capital out of the fact that the Tories have not been able to ban zombie knives yet, (basically because it is impossible). You know how idiotic it is, swords are used in civic ceremonies as part of the official regalia, how about...

    New knife laws

It is stupidity of the highest order and I think we do not have to be party political to see that they are all at the same game. A certain PM passed laws regarding partys he knew he could ignore with impunity, the opposition leader of today does not have my confidence as being any more honest...

    Ventile smock

My Keela smock has worn the cuffs really could do with leather on them, wouldn't send it back to Keela, I am sure a local tailor can fix the cuffs. Why they don't put leather on from the get go I don't know.

    Emergency dental course?

Don't worry a rotten tooth will fall out eventually. I had a skilled dentist who managed to leave part of the root of a molar in place when extracting it. It took twenty years for the stump to finally come out, by that time the dentist had retired :)

    Swedish preparedness pamphlet

Grew up in an era when there was a police house in every neighbourhood, but those times are long gone, it is a long walk to the nearest fire station and my block of flats would have burnt to the ground long before any of us could get there. Hospital is about half an hours walk away, but that...

    Swedish preparedness pamphlet

I guess I am a borderline hoarder though I would describe myself as a collecter, and it is certainly a characteristic of other members of my family. My collections are on display to any visitor but if it reaches the point where major parts of my collection have to be packed away in boxes and put...

    Swedish preparedness pamphlet

Last year I had an unwanted polytunnel land on my allotment, one of my neighbours seems totally incapable of keeping any structure undamaged on there, I have seen him lose sheds, greenhouses and the massive polytunnel that was lifted up by the wind and blown over the top of my hedge.
