My Dad had a good one. I think my Mum made it out of some heavy duty but soft cotton fabric she had. It lasted decades and is probably still going. My Dad kept it in the car at all times. Good use of a scrap of fabric. They are not hard to sew up if you have a machine. More effort byhand though...
Our fridge freezer went down and it took us a few days to get a replacement. It is smaller footprint but inside the capacity is greater with better energy efficiency too. That is real tardis technology. Smaller outside, bigger inside and more insulation to boot. Whilst I like to keep things...
The point is this change is to eliminate the need for zombie or biohazard symbolism to be zombie knives.
There was a news reporter on TV a week or so ago who rode with Bristol police who target knife crime which has been rising dramatically in the city. They told him to be there for 10am ride...
Two points with an angle less than 90 degrees is an issue so if you have one can you grind out the end point of the back, straight edge to 90 degrees or greater? It would not affect its use but eliminates two point issues.
The hole is single but the wording says holes plural. Not an issue...
We got a vivaro converted professionally but not a full conversion. My BiL did his own. A seat / bench / bed on one side with a TV on the other. Solar and leisure battery. Did it all himself. Then he had a £1500 bill due to engine issues due to the older model vivaro engine bay leak issue that...
The aluminium does not look corroded or damaged. Unless it has simply thinned without any corrosion residue I can't see anything to indicate corrosion.
Does meths do anything over time to aluminium? I think we use the meths burner as a backup to the gas burner and keep it in the kettle. Perhaps that has leaked a little. They do leak in time we found out. We're on the third meths burner now I think.
Anyone end up with a leaking trangia kettle suddenly?
We use our trangia a lot especially on van camping trips but also cycle tours and other trips too. It gets a fair bit of use over the years. We got the bigger trangia model probably 10 years ago or so and the kettle came with. Our most...
Thanks. It is only one of the lifeventure ones I think, the bigger black handled version but it has a big divot right in the middle. I generally try to scrap the other side but the handle design has a scoop on it for holding and I tend to forget and scrape the divot. It is minor issue but...
Seen an ex hire (summer 2023) Jobe YArra 10-6 package for £350. I think new £700 but the same shop has it reduced to £450 new. It seems the SUPBOARDER website has it with mostly pros and only minor cons except for too much plastic packaging when new. They said the pump supplied is a rebranded...
We use ferro rods to llight meths and ga\\s stoves when camping. It works well but one of our better ones (trust me some brands can be better than others) has a very unever wear. Bassically there seems to be a kind of dug out section so the strike steel catches on it and you can't really run it...
Which have taken over those brands? Any recommendations over the RED ones? I have seen starboard being considered good.
Must admit I didn't quite like the look of the REDs I have seen online. They seem very wide, thick and bulky with their very rounded noses. I am not looking at a surf style...
Not bushcraft but it is as much a valid form of outdoors transport as canoes that several on here use. I am getting obsesssed with the idea of getting an inflatable one but really know very little about them. We used to have a family membership of a sailing club in our village (on an estuary)...
Squirell is not likely, never seen any around here. Even a red is a bit too big to be missed. I'd see a red or grey. The critter had to be underneath the ivy leaves running up the tree. I estimate 2ish inches clearance.
Wrens but can they run down the trunk?I thought only treecreepers were...
If it's sprouting up from the trunk is there any way to cause them to merge? I've seen double trunks of trees effectively grow into each other. I'm wondering if they could entwine the shoots as they grow so they grow into kind of one trunk.
This is possibly a daft idea but I'm tired and having...
A bit of an impossible to know for certain thing but due to an obsessive curiosity I thought I'd see if there's any likely contenders and many on here are very knowledgeable about natural world.
Out on this evening dog walk about 5ish. Arnside and Silverdale AONB and on a busy path through...
I tried to take my index finger off on my left hand with an industrial bandsaw once. So I feel your pain (in memory). A glove and fast reactions limited it to a cut on the joint one down from the knuckle that was to the bone I think. There is nothing else white in a the area of a finger joint...
Is Tony's red or a one off colour just for him? It looks different to red.
PS I do not understand colour. My partner shows me a set of colour options and asks me which I preferred. My reply never pleases her as I say the red one. They're all red and to me that's kind of how I see colour. Red...
