    Futurproofing your house

If we had started reducing oil consumption and switching to a zero emissions culture in the 1970s then we might have had a chance of stopping abrupt and irreversible climate change. But the oil companies didn't want us to, & it was all about making money. We will soon discover that the North...

    Climate Change & Survival.

Or its too complicated. It's really sad when people make such a lame. Considering some of the complicated & bizarre conspiracy theories I see preppers on YouTube going on about & they seem to be parroting that Yaxley-Lenon bloke.

    Futurproofing your house

The science, physics and math, does not agree that the carbon cycle can absorb additional geologic CO2 Coal & oil released from burning fossil hydrocarbons. I don't want to sound patronising, but the science is complex & it's impacts are too. I have had other people tell me I'm too complicated...

    Auger

The thing is they aren't really designed for going into the end grain and augers are better on green wood than dry wood. For dry wood I use Forstner bits. Are you using green wood or seasoned (kiln dried)? For chair bodging, ideally you want to put a dry tenon in a wet mortise.

We cruised lots. The river Thames was the nicest. I once saw a terrapin the size of a dinner plate near Bray Lock! We had a fixed spot too on the canal. The canal used to get busy.. I once watched 2 middle aged men square up to each other over who had 'lock rights'- lots of shouting while...

    Poisonous Fruits

Datura Stranomium is now naturalised in southern Britain. Be very wary of this weed, it is toxic and highly hallicogenic, and not in a good way. A friend had some in his garden and he threw it on the bonfire. He ended up in hospital, delirious and raging. Don't burn it. It's flower smell sweet...

I grow Shii take mushrooms on logs. To get them to fruite i "shock" the logs 3-4 times a year. They don't spread. But, if you garden with woodchip as your main composting material then Bluits can be cultivated and they will start turning up all over the garden. You need deciduous woodchip...
