    Mora life span

Hey guys, Its been a while :/ Just wanted to know how long you guys think my mora companion would last? It's a carbon steel model and I've had it about 3, maybe 4 months. It got a few large scratches and I periodically remove rust or other blemishes using fine wet and dry paper. I know this...

    Longbow help

Hi rum, It's a lemonwood, purple heart and hickory longbow at 38lbs at 29" and I do think it's varnished :/ to be fair, the man I bought it off ( my uncle ) had kept it in a garage for about a year so maybe that's it? Curtis

    Longbow help

I have had this longbow a really long time, and it has had this gap since I bought it. The wood lifted up and left a small gap on the back of the bow. I filled it with wood glue and checked it hadn't ruined the bows tiller, which it hadn't and have fired it ever since without problem. My...

    Sharpening set up

It is alittle course, but it's still fine enough to get it pretty sharp without the need for stropping, but I think it might be a honing stone, as it was with a Stanley set and was in fact labelled "honing stone". Very confusing, DIY stores :/ Curtis

    Sharpening set up

Okay guys, I've posted ridiculous amounts of threads about sharpening these last few days, but I think I've found my answer. I bought a cheap oil stone from B&Q yesterday and using the fine side along with my belt as a strop, I've got it as sharp as I've ever seen it since I bought it. I'd...

    Oilstones and their effectiveness

I did a little research and found out that it's an aluminium oxide stone, but the grit isn't particularly fine, so I'll just use it for reshaping and if needs be ill just use that and a strop, try and get a decent edge till I sort something out :) Thanks guys Curtis

    Oilstones and their effectiveness

I'm gonna be honest, mines probably one of those really terrible ones from B&Q because my dads a cheapskate ( used to use it for sharpening his chisels years ago :/ ) will it have a break in period, because he only used the coarse side and has barely touched the fine side, so it feels a bit...
