    Making the kill

There's gems of info in that lot. Thanks everybody. I think my mind thinks along the lines a survival scenario only. Survival is survival at the end of the day and there are very few things that you can't practice, hunting with a bow in this country maybe one of them but having a little...

    Making the kill

As a re-enacter i have often found myself with a warbow in my hands having a plink at some butts and i have to say i'm not bad at all!! I don't own a bow but I've often mused over the art of the hunter and how they make a kill using an arrow. Of course making a bow and arrows and spears are all...

It's a wee bit cold around the hairy bag!

To all My girlfriend and i are fell/mountain walkers for the best part (although we are hoping to get slightly closer to nature in the near future and start adopting some slightly more archaic methods of bushcraft/survival). I have, however, always taken a serious stance on our survival in the...

    Lightweight water carrying

Again, boops makes sense. Most people don't hydrate properly. If you ensure a decent water intake BEFORE a walk, short or not, you will decrease your thirst during your walk. AGAIN boops has a point, if you find you are contantly thirsty you are either under-hydrated or have an underlying...

tin foil to use as pot to boil water

If you can fill a paper container with water and boil it over a bunsen burner (remember your science lessons?) then i'm sure you can do it using tin foil??!!.....Truth is i've never tried it so i don't speak with the voice of experience BUT i do carry tin foil for many reasons; other than to...

    The Science of Water

A Belting read sir, many thanks for the time and effort you've put into that. I've been lucky enough to have high mountain streams to fill up from whenever i've found myself running a bit short which are generally quite safe. I am aware of and have practiced several means of water collection...

    Bushcraft PLCE webbing

I have EVERY intention of continuing to use webbing it's functional, versatile, spreads the weight, allows water and equipment to be got at easily and allows the air to your back in summer (among many other pros). but most of all i use it because IT WORKS and that's more important in the...

    Lightweight water carrying

LOL at robert rogers. ALL above ideas sound good...the camelpack and even boop's; hydrate before you go. I would go down the webbing route also. It might be worth trying a lightweight system like the ALICE which is fairly non-invasive but use small sports drink bottles like the lifeventure...

    Bushcraft PLCE webbing

More fool the people who DON'T wear webbing for certain outdoor ventures because they're too busy worrying about what other people think of them! they'll never know the advantages of webbing over rucksacks..trapped in they're world of convention and fashion and needing constant approval. I go...

    New webbing blues

Thanks swampy... but another question if i may... I was pondering over PLCE but am i right in assuming that you still need specific pouches to be present (ammo pouches like '58 for eg.) before you can attach the yoke to the system or is there a way of attaching the yoke straight to the belt as...

    New webbing blues

Hi guys. quick question... Would a web-tex utility pouch go on an ALICE pistol belt?? My knowledge of modern webbing systems is none existent and i can't seem to find a clear description on retail websites. I haven't aclue about PLCE or modular webbing or how they all work. It all seems to...
