New Stainless Peltonen M07

If I was in the market for a super robust, easily maintained blade that was a moderate financial upscale over a Mora then this would tick a few boxes. I recently received an email from Peltonen showing off their new M07 with stainless Böhler N690 steel instead of the coated carbon steel. I live in a wet climate and around water a lot so, combined with the multiple sheath options and the lack of a coating, which I find often wears poorly and also hides dirt makes this very attractive.

I love how 'Sissipuuko' translates to 'Guerilla Knife', although I am led to believe that there is no true English translation equivalent.

Kind of true but it is not very far off. The Finnish word includes more than what is normally put under the English one.

The word "sissi" describes a member of small patrols (usually less than 10 men) that usually patrol behind enemy lines and gather information.
In WWII they sometimes formed larger parties with 100 men or so and attacked enemy supply depos and destroyed them.

Slightly OT but interesting information on the traditional aspects of the fighting knife. Stated here the fact t he sheaths are reindeer hide so they didn't freeze.

And what magical thing is in reindeer leather making it stay warmer than surrounding environment?

Only small babies truly understand this word. Whispered at them in a cot it always makes them smile.

Well - I gave in to the urging of my inner voice and got an MO7 - Carbon with a Teflon coating in Black (I am a bit of a Carbon fan!) with the composite sheath - the balance is much better than the bayonet derived knife!
I am - so far - loving it all ...except the webbing belt loop that is a bit short for my favourite hang.
Testing and playing continues and so does trying out different ways of improving the hang - I may even make a leather sheath for the knife, to my own design (not particularly keen on the Peltonen item TBH, which is why I bought the composite one - just to see how it goes )
I may even get around to writing the whole thing up!
