LEP flashlight - practical for anything?

Signaling. Probably can replace the rescue laser devices, might not have the same range but safer.

At least BMW do use them in their car headlights.

And for search lights on ships & helicopters.

 
The hot spot on these seems to be so bright closer up that you often aren't able to see what you're actually lighting up. And no spill so you can't get context either. I still really want to try one though.

Also keen for one for use diving, though again it might be useless given the intensity of the hot spot that you can't see what you're trying to illuminate. It could well be brilliant for signals though.

I've not tried the LEP lights use a 600m LED torch and you don't want to shine it one something close at full power.

Useful for scanning the local hills and woodland edges when you year something strange...
 
Acebeam do have a LEP with some funky electronic lens which can increase the flood of the LEP. Bit like the old zoomable flashlights.
