Carinthia defence 4 in a drybag question

Went to the PRI shop today. Why are the exped bags in OG and black somehow stronger looking than the civvi version.? Anyhow, got a 13l OG bag. Carinthia on the left, in a 13l exped drybag. Army arctic bomb in the 22l bag on the right. Neither went in 'easy' BG knife for scale

    Sleeping bag advice

Yep, as the whole thing is lighter the top doesn't feel like it's pushing down on you, so some think it's not as warm. (That made sense in my head)

    Sleeping bag advice

I have the standard length def 4, 180 long. I'm 5'8 and on the chunky side, I have loads of room to spare. It's lighter, compresses better and is as warm, if not warmer. It 'feels' like it's not as warm initially as the upper part is much lighter so doesn't give you that enclosed feeling. I've...

Carinthia defence 4 in a drybag question

Do any of you with a Carinthia carry it in a drybag? If so what's the smallest size (in L) that you can get it into?

    Sleeping bag advice

Have you tried a Carinthia? The face hole thing isn't as bad as it seems to be honest, although I've never been that cold that I've had it done up all the way

    Fleece liners

Well I have plenty of use with the army issue jungle bag. Great for Iraq in summer, great in a campervan, great indoors as a light travel bag. Waste of space if sleeping outside in the uk in anything other than high summer. Your experience may vary of course, but certainly I can't think of many...

Any Lowa Mountain Boot GTX Users?

I have the patrol (non gtx version of the mountain) the combat (high leg gtx) and the recon Para. My next pair of boots for casual clothing will be a pair of lowa civvi boots. Quality speaks volumes..... I'm a 7 in normal daily use, the lowas fit well in a 7, better with thicker socks mind you

Advice on 4 season sleeping bag

Carinthia defence 4. The replacement for the old arctic bag, lighter, compresses better and has a water resist coating on the shell. (Mine fits in the bottom compartment of a 65-80 civvi rucksack)

Wild Stove’s Wood gas stove MK II

Sonneli. Long time no speak old chap, not using your Mytimug with the sea to summit on top then.... How do you rate this stove? I'm considering buying one, I prefer the look of the Chinese stove supports rather than the wire type. What's the packed weight on the aliexpress one?
