I have placed a subscription in good faith with this company in june 2021 to have the magazines sent to me in Australia as we have nothing like it down under. Having not received a single copy and now 6 months of emails to Adam Byrne, David Thompson and the "customer service" team plus having to...

    Cooking with a Trangia stove

Trangias are great. But the problem I found was the difficulty in taking them on a plane. You had to make sure all the fuel had been burnt off or evaporated and the same for the fuel bottle. Got caught out a few times in airports as the sniffer dog picks up the smell. Plus finding the meths in...

    Kukri for Bushcraft use ?

Look at Khukri House knives. I have got two from them sent to Australia with no problem. Also there are many shops in the Thamel region of Kathmandu that sell them. If you are going or have a mate visiting they can get one bringing it back through customs isn't a problem Ive ever experienced.

As for the not using PIB for a north hemisphere bite is still an area where...

Foot Powder now that 'Mycil' powder unavailable

My basic foot regime when I am in the Jungle of North Queensland and Malaysia is to wash them at night, dry them with a good scrubbing between the toes and then use the "Foo Foo" bag technique. So 600ml of Johnsons Baby powder with Corn starch in and poor in a bottle of medicated talc, any...

    snakebite question

Hi FD. With the PIB for being good or bad treatment for non Australian snakes is still out to jury I believe. The main thing is to slow the transport of venom via the lymphatic system. in the end any bite gets transported to hospital for definitive diagnostic and treatment. If you are more than...

    snakebite question

Having treated many snakebites here in Queensland the main thing we do is use the pressure immobilisation technique. even if the person states that it was a non venomous snake we treat as it is until it is proven via blood tests of bite swab that no envenomation has taken place. I always ask...

    snakebite question

Very recent evidence now shows that the old wives tale of non climbing venomous snakes is wrong. Any snake in Oz can climb a tree depending on the situation. If they are evading a stressful situation or due to environmental issues.
