    Helle knifes

I have a Fjellkniven from Helle and have found it to be an excellent knife. It takes and holds an very sharp edge and has never let me down. I bought it from Heinnie. :)

Is that the knife you showed me a while back, Dazz? Are you still selling? ;)

Cleaning and looking after my machette

I'd let it build up to a 'used' finish. I have cleaned my machete with wire-wool and some Autosol polish, especially after I did a conifer clearing job in my in-laws garden- the sap got all over it! :)

    becker brute

Hi. If you do a Google search you'll find a site called M40 Selections. It's a good site with plenty of info on it. Here's a link from M40's pages about him turning a kukri into a very serviceable knife, where he mentions the Becker Brute Regards.

    Weather watch.

For all you foragers out there who don't want to get caught in a monsoon-like downpour, here's a website which might help alleviate that. Weather watch. Pete.

Cleaning your knife in the field

It's about a quid for a small bottle, Pete, but it will last you a fair while. Worth stocking up in my opinion. Pete.

Cleaning your knife in the field

Agreed. You can buy alcohol based gel in Superdrug. I use it after I have prepared rabbits etc. It evaporates away leaving your hands/equipment pretty much sterile.

Cleaning your knife in the field

Carry some of those lemon hand-wipes you get from places that sell food. Failing that just spit on it and wipe it on your trousers. Works for me. :) I wouldn't suggest stabbing the blade into the ground, as you only need to hit a stone and the edge has gone.

    Inserting an image

Hi lad's. I started off using Fotango to host my pics, but they only accept jpg files. Red is using a good site in Imageshack, but I use www.suprfile.com because they take all files and don't ask you to set up an account. You just visit and host. So far, I've had no problems at all. BTW...
