    Sold Rucksacks, stove, water filter.

Hi. I am interested in the Karrimor pack but wondering about shipping costs (to Finland). Would maybe be more reasonable if I found something else too and everything could be sent together. Even from other members here, who would first send to you. How does that sound?

Extreme/Extended Cold Weather Clothing System - your choices?

Here winter temps get down to -35C and -20C to -25C is common during winter months. I usually wear two layers of merino and either gabardine cotton or ventile cotton on top. For -35C type of weather I use a North Face Summit Series down jacket...usually just a t-shirt underneath

Wet weather gear - kit talk

Hi, It seems there are quite many that receive good reviews. Personally, the ventile smocks made by (defunct for years) SASS are among the very best for outdoors use. If lucky, you may find one somewhere! I have a West Winds double ventile smock that is excellent as well. For town/travel use I...

Wet weather gear - kit talk

I wear cotton gabardine smocks if it's not raining. They are completely windproof but breath extremely well. Very comfortable. They can withstand a drizzle if properly treated by Nikwax Cotton Proof or similar. In rain I wear single or double layer ventile with merino layers underneath. Ventile...

    Black SAS smock

I guess this is one possibility. But would they have ordered an arctic smock type, with the wire hood?

    Black SAS smock

" possibly one made by a supplier who supplies/supplied the issue smocks to the MOD " Yeah, I am inclined to think this might be the case. Judging by the seams and details which resemble the issue smocks so very closely. Silverman's prices aren't very friendly :D Despite that, I did buy a set...

    Black SAS smock

It doesn't have epaulets or any evidence of them. And it's not ripstop, it's cotton gabardine, like the other one I mentioned. I do have also a black ripstop MODplod one that i use as a chores jackets - I don't like the feel nearly as much as the plain cotton ones, so it was demoted to merciless...

    Black SAS smock

I recently bought a near-pristine black gabardine SAS smock that has the wired hood and knit cuffs, plus a green tag. The tag doesn't have any military code number or a contract number on it, but there is the usual size info etc., including "To maintain water repellency reproof with a suitable...

    Olive green gabardine SAS smock

Ok, thanks. That's what I thought, too, that the Canadian style buttons might point towards relatively recent manufacture.
