    Bent axe blade

Actually, I've just looked... I didn't realise you can buy tree stumps for chopping online. Maybe I need one of those too... although they all seem to be 35cm tall, not 60cm.

    Bent axe blade

It's kiln dried oak. The log I have to split on is pretty low. I'm not sure where I'd find a better/taller stump though. This is quite a learning curve!

    Bent axe blade

Thanks both. I have had a go and it's not easy! I'm telling myself prehaps it's not sharp enough yet, but I think I just might be a bit of a weakling.

    Bent axe blade

Hi, While attempting to sharpen my new and first axe, I noticed that the blade is bent in the corner. Hopefully you can see the bend in this picture: https://ibb.co/2dT5xqM I won't be able to fix this so I'm wondering if it is still usable for splitting wood? Thanks, Natalie.

    Is my axe safe?

Cutting down firewood. My stove is too small for standard logs.

    Is my axe safe?

I have a sharpening stone so I'll have a go... I don't have a mask though. Do you know where I could get one for a Kent pattern axe?

Thank you. I think I've managed to post a link to a photo above. Do you think it looks okay?

    Is my axe safe?

Yes, the metal looks rather like that, but the wood is damaged. I used the word cracks, but it's a bit more than that, as I'd some has rotted away in the past. I see there are some which are used with a hammer and they're not too expensive. That might be an idea..

    Is my axe safe?

Yes, that was a concern for me too. I have a friend who will show me how to safely use it.

    Is my axe safe?

Unfortunately I don't have the skills to do that, but I could return it.
