    Best outdoor work clothes

I have a Ridgeline waterproof that survives the thickets. If I had the cash a Buffalo vest would be nice to have but I have a couple of very cheap fleece gilets that I double if needed. I have a vest with heating elements in it. Battery also works as a power bank 3-4 hours on the lowest...

    Coping with the heat.

The scarves with absorbent crystals in extend the duration of the evaporative cooling effect. I am not sure if there is something similar that will work on the inside of your forearms. Otherwise I cheat, 8c. Got to check the trout stocks.

What wildlife did you spot today?

What trout? :p I like the punky red hair coot chicks sport. They almost look like Moorhens as they get a bit bigger and then go monochrome. Some Canada geese had nested beside the boat slipway. Only one egg hatched (l found a couple of eggs in the water) now the family has moved off so...

anyone who knows about Lowe Alpine Pathfinder 120 Liter?

I have not had my hands on the Pathfinder. My understanding is that it’s a little smaller than the Saracen by 10-15L but is otherwise very similar in layout. It might have been issued to Irish Defence Forces, I think I’ve seen it in DPM/paddyflage as well as olive.

The Reptila nylon stuff comes up on eBay for about £30 for trousers. If you don’t mind MTP camo. There are issue US Pertex zoot suits around too,a bit nicer than the Arktis one. Hit and miss when they show up but various non camo colours, may have been made with opfor chaps in mind. I think...

Camping with a tarp in the open.

I have seen a video of a lad using a pool noodle to make an arch for his bivi. Ultralight weight may be to suspend the tarp from a helium balloon….. ;)

Long Distance Walking (>4000km) + Wild Camping, Woolen Travel Over-Garment or Cloak

Yes. I have a calf length cloak gets used for sitting around the fire. Effectively a rectangular brushed wool blanket with a pennanular broach on the shoulder. Quite nice for a nap or sleeping layer but not my first choice when moving on foot. Wool tunic, leggings and winnigas absolutely...

Long Distance Walking (>4000km) + Wild Camping, Woolen Travel Over-Garment or Cloak

I know that some people have done the Camino del Nord/Primitivo routes using reproduction medieval clothing in modern times. I’ve only tried a quick Google search and came up blank. But I know there are several blogs about it is out there. Some common things I recall from the articles were...
