    outdoorcode problems

For what its worth, I've dealt with Andrew several times over the last couple of years (although not in the last six months or so) and always had excellent service. I hope he manages to resolve whatever problems he's 's having (both health and business). He's always seemed to be one of the...

Clikstand and woodfire, anyone had any experiences?

I would have thought that a clikstand is bit too small to retain enough heat and fuel for a viable fire - there just wouldn't be enough energy retained in the fire bed to sustain good combustion. I would also just about guarantee that if you did manage a decent fire in one, it would be pretty...

    Hedgehog deterent

I wish we had a hedgehog problem  - we're overrun with slugs and as we don't use chemicals, hedgehogs (and possibly a few toads) would be great! Matt

    Signal crayfish...again!

Hi Geoff, Apologies from my side also if my response came a cross as a rant - even if it was a bit 'ranty', it wasn't directed at you or anyone in particular. I'm also pleased and impressed that you are doing the 'right thing' with regards to legality. I agree with you entirely Geoff...

    Signal crayfish...again!

Bear in mind that a lot of the current problem stems from idiots spreading juvenile signals, viruses harmful to natives and taking natives either deliberately or by mistake. Some, even deliberately translocate signals into waters previously free of them so that they can catch them! Many people...

    Tanto Blade

Hmm, the tanto style blade was refined to do one job very well - putting neat holes in people. While the defined angular kick in the edge might possibly prove useful in another situation, I can't help but think that the con's would outweigh the pro's and that its versatility and use would be...

Excellent, thanks for that. I'm thinking I might have a go at 'chimnifying' my Chris Randall, Yukon firebox. best Matt

    Lavvu - "tipi" Kultalavvu. REVIEW

Now then (apologies for the hijack), I need to know what that Nimblewill type stove is! (and where you can get one) - it looks great! If anyone can give me any information, it'd be really appreciated. cheers Matt

    Ray Mears new Shirt

decorum, Well, while no offence was intended via my posts, I'm afraid that comments such as those will inevitably lead to some 'good natured ribbing'. As it appears that he doesn't actually have the shirt in question, bush_baby appears to base his glowing justification for its price on the...

    Ray Mears new Shirt

But, hang on..... So you don't actually have one after all and haven't got a clue what it's worth? (Or 'cos it's expensive, it must be good?) Matt

    Little boxes of heat

Just got a little friend for my recently acquired, second hand Optimus 111 multifuel - a Russian Optmus 8r clone: Pictured above putting out around 4.5 kW together :D (although you can't see the burner flames very well). I bought the 111 a couple of weeks ago from a member here on BCUK...

    General advice for scotland

All good advice above. I've never got on with skin so soft - it only seems to work if you really lather it on and I hate the oily feel (I think it drowns the midges!), so I do use a deet based repellent when they're really bad. If you are somewhere suitable, a fire helps keep the midges down...

    General advice for scotland

They're best worn over a hat with a brim - keeps the net away from your face. If you're wearing a shirt with a collar, tuck the drawstring under your collar before snugging it up. (I'm assuming it's a head net we're talking about) Joking aside, a head net can turn unmitigated misery into a...
