EDC is a Leatherman Charge XTi which is all I need to carry on my person and usually gets used at least half a dozen times a day.....the 154CM blade suits my purposes fine for an EDC and is scarily sharp out of thebox. As for knives.....I use a Mad Dog ATAK and a SOG SEAL pup at the moment but...

It just depends on the area in which you are camping....I was in a National Park on the far South coast of New South Wales over Christmas and it was a total fireban....it rained for three days and the fireban was lifted. At this time of year it is just a case of monitoring the fire service sites...

Yes....mainlanders are much better behaved than those heathens up North....I'm from Waipara Zackerty :D ....... went to school in ChCh.

Unfortunately, public camping areas are as you described for a good reason.....and the reason is losing millions of hectares of forest to bushfires every year....this year included....there is a huge one in Victoria at the moment and scores of homes and properties have been destroyed this year...

Thanks for the welcome all...... Rich....I get out and practise when I can.....just had 5 days by myself on the far South coast of New South Wales which was great.....3 days of rain but still great and I hope to get a couple of days away by myself when I head back to NZ for a week in...
