The haenel Jager 10 is my general purpose hunting rifle. I have it in .30-06 spr with a Zeiss Victory HT on it, and i love it to bits. Their around €1000 in the netherlands.

In general the shooting distances in Germany aren't that long. 200m is considered a long distance shot. Average in Germany is sub 100m with the most in between 50-75m. In pretty much all places i'd use copious amounts of DEET, a mozzie-net and tick repelling clothing. Mozzies and ticks are most likely to have you on the menu. And with Lymes etc. also most likely to do you harm.
