Crossbow and broadhead sales ban and crossbow licensing one step closer.

As someone with a FAC and someone who enjoys and owns crossbows, I am in favour of licensing. Yes, it’s a pain. Yes, it sometimes feels like the system is set-up to stop you getting a license. However, it does stop huge numbers of firearms getting into the hands of people who shouldn’t be...

    Man cave

This is spill over from my unit. I have a dedicated extraction and storage facility for my beekeeping stuff, but when I’m rushing I always end up “temporarily” putting things in the garage. The supers have been sat there since September!

    Man cave

Fantastic. I have tried a bit of mace training and have used a hammer myself — they are a lot cheaper than the commercially made maces. However, I never embedded in my training philosophy, so it’s perhaps time I revisited. My grappling dummy is a Fairtex. Expensive, but really good quality...

    Man cave

Nice set-up. Do you use the sledge hammers for training, or are they for more practical purposes? Does the canvas at the back have a purpose? I was thinking perhaps catapult shooting?

    Man cave

And you can’t even see my little quarantine fish tank in the corner! My constant collection of new hobbies drives my wife insane. I’m very much a jack of all trades, master of none . . . but better than a master of one. At least that’s what I tell myself.

    Man cave

This is my little sanctuary. It’s cold and damp, but it’s amazing how many hobbies I fit in here.

    When is your day?

I’m usually up around 8am and in bed for 1am. When I was in my teens and early 20s I was terrible — up at 11am and in bed at 4am. A true student lifestyle. I was never a gamer or anything like that, I just always preferred the quiet of the night. I used to get through so many books. Then the...

    20th Anniversary competition

My guess: Building an Iron Age settlement for “a quiet weekend”, before explaining repeatedly to stunned passers-by that it’s not glamping, its experimental archeology.

    Where is British Red?

He and his wife also produce regular articles for The Country Smallholder. Febs issue has just dropped, with a couple of great articles on raising chicks.

Looking for a good accredited course!

I would also recommend listening to Paul Kirtley’s latest podcast episode with Jamie Dakota and Adam Logan. It’s a really good conversation, exploring how they became bushcraft instructors through fairly different paths.

    This morning’s catch . . .

We are holidaying in Fort William, so I decided to pop out this morning and see if any mackerel were about. It ended up being a nice session, with even a bit of sun shining through the clouds.

What beekeeping related activities did you do recently?

Out checking the bees today. The first two hives were empty last time I checked, but now full of bees. The joy of bees swarming straight into a box! It saves a lot of work.

    Taxi!!!

I occasionally use Uber for the sake of convenience, though I’m no fan of their business model. I tend to use them if I’m meeting friends or colleagues for drinks, though that’s a rare occurrence since having children. In all honestly, I have never considered prioritising electric, though many...
