The Galloway Forest Park bothies were in a sad state the last time I visited, people leaving rolls, sweets, sachets of peanut butter ... much of it gnawed at by mice and droppings all over the tables.

Thanks but I'd rather pay £10 than try to even read that page let alone follow what it says. It looks a lot of work. I noticed it mentioned using JB-Weld as well as something called Krazy glue. How do you get the top half inside the bottom half if they're the same size?

Some instructions would be helpful. All the soda can stove designs I've seen require metal bonding, as well as a fair amount of time to make. It makes more sense just to buy one for a tenner on eBay. But a stove made out of a soda can isn't likely to be very sturdy.

I switched to unlined leather boots recently and find my feet are generally much drier and more comfortable, except in constant heavy rain. I think it depends on your feet to some extent and how thick the boots are. I have a couple of pairs of gore-tex shoes which are fine but my feet sweat...

Looks exactly like a Trangia burner which is excessively bulky and heavy for what it is. I wish someone would produce a smaller and lighter version of the Trangia using aluminium. I could handle a much shorter burn time for a stove that fits in my mug and weighs under 100g. I know there are...

You can test it online. I'd be hesitant about using it to identify edible foods.
