Wood Burning Stove Stainless steel vs. Titanium

I love my alcohol stoves and prefer the cleanliness and simplicity in many cases but on my recent trip to Sri Lanka I could not use them at all because it was literally impossible to buy any fuel for them. Sales of meths, (bio)ethanol and anything similarly appropriate is very tightly controlled...

Wood Burning Stove Stainless steel vs. Titanium

I have not had a Ti gasifier stove but I have had several in S/S both commercial and home-made and the inner heat chamber has eventually failed on all of them, either at the base or the upper gasification ports. I know that the serious gasifier stoves supplied to 3rd world communities by the UN...

Wood Burning Stove Stainless steel vs. Titanium

Titanium is both more resistant to heat than stainless (higher melting point) and importantly more resistant to the acidic corrosion that wood burning will tend to produce. I have had several stainless gasifier stoves eventually rot out and fail in the inner burn chamber.

    Sold CONDOR Bushcraft parang

It has been a long time but are you still selling this?

Who was the genius who conned us into believing we need a fixed blade knife for bushcraft?

What about a quality 10" chandong parang like the myparang from Bidor or the Condor mini duku? Seems to have (almost) all the chopping and batoning ability but with the ability to do slashing and fine work too, and at the same time being lighter to carry.

Greetings all - Machetes, axes, clearing foot paths?

I did but I felt it deserved a response. Why?

Greetings all - Machetes, axes, clearing foot paths?

Speaking personally, I agree with @Janne's comment and think yours is an over-reaction. I don't automatically assume if I see someone on their own in the woods with a chopping tool minding their own business that they are a possible gang member or serial killer. However, that same person in a...

    Poncho liner

The Dutch army surplus poncho liner that I got was well made and in excellent condition but thinner than I expected i.e. apparently not much insulation in the middle. Are they all like that? Not that warm it seems, though I haven't tested it properly in cold & wet conditions to see if it has...

    Recommend a YouTube Channel

Jeff Myers is a constant source of good ideas for hammock suspensions and other hardware-free cordage: https://www.youtube.com/@jeffmyers7062 Amongst other things, I use and recommend his pigtail loops as versatile end loops for hammocks and soft shackles as dyneema carabiners.

DD Hammock suspension kit upgrade ideas please and help with set up

I agree with almost all of this. A structural ridgeline is very helpful but make it from something low stretch, tough and light like dyneema. This is also excellent for other aspects of suspension like end loops and dog bones. Jeff Myers is a constant source of good ideas on YT. Polyester...

Lightest high-quality jungle boots that won't beak the bank

So I just bought some of the Wellco UK Army brown jungle boots in 9M with the Panama sole almost as-new for £36 on eBay which I thought was a good deal. I will report back with thoughts once I have had a chance to try them on and walk them in a bit. The pair is meant to weigh 1.6Kg which is not...

    Recommendation for tough trekking sandals

They do look like a good fit to what I want but at £75 quite an outlay for sandals.
