    Wintermoot

    Thanks, huge thanks, for a grand time. Much drier then expected. Very laid back time this year but still a joy. Super grub, yum yum. So good to touch base with old friends and glad to see new faces. Roll on summer.

    DD Hammock suspension kit upgrade ideas please and help with set up

    I found hang a blanket over the hammock's ridge line {not the tarp's} did not work for me. I found the total lack of light very disquieting. I know its dark when I close my eyes, I know there is very little light at night in the woods but the TOTAL darkness, oh no. Not scared of the dark but I...

    It will give you a nice loop at the end the hammock to pass the rest of the straps through or to fit a binner to.

    DD Hammock suspension kit upgrade ideas please and help with set up

    A fixed ridge line can be added to the DD which will aid in a diagonal lay. Once you have found your best length, fix it in place and you are sorted for the next and every next time. Both Kim and I spent years in DD and where warm and comfy. Going for a 4x4 tarp instead of the normal 3metres is...

    DD Hammock suspension kit upgrade ideas please and help with set up

    I noticed you did not mention any "under" insulation. I 100% recommend, {to the point of insisting} that you have a CCF mat in the double bottom pocket. An under quilt is nice as well but I found the CCF mat also helped with the bath tub effect. As for hanging:- Cut some of the DD hanging...

    Forest Bathing... Hammock

    I tried this forest bathing in a hammock thing..... 18 pints of Guinness, too lazy/sleepy to get up....... Not something I would repeat.

    Sharpest edged tool?

    I do believe the OP question was " who make the sharpest edge tool that you have used?", then I am going to have to say ME. { Yeah it was just a Flint shard but that chicken sliced like it was pre-diced!}

    I just thought I'd try a brew from my Trangia kettle after years in storage.... blech it was gopping !

    "Oh I found aluminium in a Alzheimer victim's brain, it must be the cause"... did you check any others "oh no I did not have any real control subjects"...."oh look there is aluminium every everybody's brain" Yeah but lets not let science get in the way of a scare story!

    Lavvu

    I played with a Polish Lavvu last year. You will need two poncho to make a full tent. The idea is that two solders would each add their poncho to the "2man" tent. You really do need to get the largest size ( 3 button at the bottom) to give any comfort { and I am a bit of a short bottom}. Even...

    Hammock advice/ tips

    For years Kim and I have used DD hammocks and were very happy. True, we have both moved on to other "dearer" hammocks but that is not a reflection on DD, just my age and Kim getting great Hand Me Downs. I am a flat on my back sleeper and from what I can make out, don't move around much in my...
