I found this old Norwegian book with a large section on withies. Amongst a lot of techniques and traditions with withies - it also describes the knots that were used.

I see your problem was sorted allready, but..
That blade form is pretty standard on shelves of well equipped hardware stores in Norway. I would suppose it's also used in parts of the anglophone world as well. Try searching for «electrician's knife».
