I have heard(but no actual experience) that they are not that comfortable to carry. They look great but modern packs like Osprey are properly designed to distribute the weight. Depends how far you are walking....I am a wimp when it comes to carrying a heavy bacvkpack
good - you have an e mail address. Try and e mail as much as possible so you have a record. any conversations you have ollow it up with an e mail saying ....just to confirm in our telephone call ...etc etc
By full time profesional care do you mean a care home/residential home? You have to be in a REAL bad way to get the state to fund that....fine if you're loaded and can pay the high cost. I would also guess you are not present when the hospital social worker interviews your mum (before discharge)...
By the way as a carer you are eligible for a statutory carers assessment to support you as a carer. Probably won't get much support but may be worth giving it a go.
maybe a good starting point for any news is who is paying for it to be reported. The public have a right to know. After all it takes time, money ,staff to create news. The only thing is transparency about the process and accountability for what is printed...hence rules and regulations I suppose .
for mid layers the charity shops are stuffed full of thin merino jumpers for 5 to 1o pounds. Might not be as packable or light as technical stuff but it definitely makes a breathable layer.
On a more cheerful note if we do have power black outs and cars can't run because civilisation has collapsed because of whatever messs ups we have made. at least we don't have to listen to any boy band music or listen to blasting crap music coming out of people's cars. Nothing to entertain...
Hi Horseguy. 2 things imeediately spring to mind
1-as you say a lot of people don't have practical skill eg lighting a fire. But i reckon it would take a few hours or even less for such a peson to learn to do that IF IT WAS A MATTER OF SURVIVAL AND THEY HAD TO DO IT (apologies for the capitals)...
I worked in a sheltered gousing complex with over 60 properties, endless corridors and fob only access to the communal toilet.
One of the delivery drivers pood in a stairwell-was caught on CCTV and sacked.
We were initially outraged but thinking about it now I feel sorry for him.
I hope you...
