As quoted by leon1 most snake bites are in the lower leg region,try wearing a pair of gaitors over your boots for a bit more protection.But unless you go lookingv for snakes you will hardly see one,you are more likely to hear them getting out of your way.
:1244: I find wearing two pair of socks helps when wearing wellies 1 pair thin 1 pair thick,and they are no problem,the only other problem with them is they tend to sucked of your feet in really muddy conditions.
If there are any road works near you and they are digging holes have a scout around you may find some flint in the piles of earth.I have found some really good workable pieces doing this.Why pay for it. :D
