Forgot to mention, I sometimes use an awl made from a glover's needle
Mostly when doing lighter stuff that I can't just sew with the intact glover's needles, normally for light stuff I do something like double needle stitch but I lead with the glover's and then thread the other way with a blunt.
So, baby shampoo or something like ?
I'll go have a nose on that link
Whats a staple ? The length of the hairs or something?
Thanks for putting up with dumb questions
Is that square section or round ?
Round awls are great for poking holes in soft stuff but a square one can be used for drilling holes in harder things too
A square awl with a longish taper on it is called a Birdcage awl, they used to be used to make cages for song birds out of really thin lathes
I recently got hold of a fleece with the intention of learning to process and spin
So, a couple of questions if I may
What is wool shampoo and where could I get it?
What is the difference between a pair of modern hand carders and a dog grooming slicker brush (besides even the cheap carders cost...
Could you post a clearer picture of the 'chisels'.... I've been looking for a smaller Shaker (rock drill thingee) as they're a PITA to forge
Willing to swap tongs or other tools (I trained as a smith many years ago)

BTW. Don't make your hammer faces too flat, they'll mark...
I've recently got the Hul HD that Samon posted (one like the donor that is, not the fantastic re-handle )
Its now my new best friend, grip is a bit of a monster (but I like big) and the point isn't the finest (I always carry an Opinel as a finework knife anyway), my only regret is only buying...
Make sure you have permission from the landowner
Joining either GNAS (http://www.archerygb.org/) or NFAS (http://nfas.net/) will get you 3rd party liability cover (boring I know, but getting sued sucks more )
One of the guys in my archery club ran a couple of Roves a few years back....Problem...
S/S is not just one alloy.
'Stainless' ("Doesn't rust" would be a little closer to the truth) is just one property that a range of steel alloys have, 440 is just one of them
You can get S/S with high to very carbon content
Never heat a blade in anything except boiling water if you want to...
