A Long Shot - Saunders Spacepacker Plus, has anyone got one?

I bought one of these last year. I've had Saunders' tents since the mid 70's and hold them in high regard. This one is a cracker.. It must have been one of the latest ever made since it comes with a red groundsheet (which I know was usually only specified for 'SE' models). The flysheet is still...

    Fires galore

Still hoping for some intelligent contributions which don't leave scorched ground LL. If you can provide that, I'd be happy to hear or see, that would be a skilled part of the 'craft'. It was in fact you who quoted my post and perfectly illustrated with your video where the idiots in the UK get...

    Fires galore

With respect, you're based in Australia not the UK. 'BushcraftUK' and open fires in the UK was what I was trying to identify. I don't like the idea that anybody would rip bark off trees as tinder when there is plenty around on fallen timbers, ground fires and making those in the roots of trees...

    Fires galore

You stated "open fires". What do you mean by an "open fire"? If you mean a 'ground fire', often referred to as an "open fire" then yes. Forbid them as they truly do not LNT. I'm completely happy with any other constructed fire where there is no damage caused from its heat or flame and the...

    Fires galore

My impression wasn't from this group, but 'trying' to Leave No Trace does seem rather incongruous. I initially wanted to ask a question specifically of this group since if anybody the members here, UK specific, would seem to have a better understanding of LNT and specifically the UK rules...

    Fires galore

Monkey see, monkey do. It is embarrassing and irritable to see fire idiots building and maintaining open fires in areas of national beauty with no regard to the "Leave no trace" ethos. Either the culprits are just following the herd by seeing others 'having fires' and emulating that for social...

Give it a try, you might be very pleasantly surprised, and build a pot support which saves you alcohol and time. To test it, just stick 3 tent pegs in the ground as a pan support holding your pan at the increased height and see how it compares.

Tried to edit my previous post, but couldn't... ...and use a lid. A lid will reduce boil time by up to 20%.

I've done hundreds of boil tests over the last few months to optimise a Jetboil pan on an Evernew or Evernew type burner like yours. The optimal positioning of the burner between the top burner jets and the pot base is down to a change of a matter of millimetres. The optimal setup does have a...

Your pan looks like a great space saver, and I like your burner holder too. What sort of holder is that and does the spacing with the pot work efficiently? (Calculated by 2 cups to boiling as a guide). Thanks.
