I've camped and enjoyed outdoor activities most of my life, mostly family related.
Unfortunately my wife died last year (2015); it's been a tough year since and I was in danger of becoming either a recluse or a burden on my kids, neither of which appealed to me. So it's time to strike out on my own and get out there.
A friend introduced me to canoeing, which I loved. I've also been watching various YouTube videos, which have inspired me to try combining camping and canoeing, with my little dog for company. I bought myself a 15ft canoe for my 60th birthday and the kids bought me a lovely Grey Owl paddle to go with it.
I was introduced to hammock camping at the Bushmoot in 2016, absolutely loved it and am now a convert.
My time online eventually brought me to this forum. So here I am, ready to give it a go and make the best of what time I have left.
I hope to meet some of you out and about in the field some day.
