I’m currently in the Falklands and it’s been my first experience of starlink. It’s been absolutely brilliant to be honest as the Sure WiFi cards here are hideously expensive (£5 per hour) and very slow!! The Starlink mini we are using can also run off 12v, the only downside to the mini is that...
We bought the cottage solely due to the fact it came with a dilapidated pole barn that had the potential to be rebuilt into my workshop. Every place I have lived I have had a workshop in one form or another. To me it's more important than the house.
I use one of the Dutch army 20mm foam ones which I have cut to my length then made a sit mat out of the off cut. I got fed up with air mats getting punctures as I sleep on the ground. It's not as comfy as an air mat but it is very good for insulation.
Yeah that's the one, I got the book in the mid 90's when I was a kid but always loved it. I went to one of the river cottage open days about 8 years ago and thought I'd take the book and get it signed. When I presented it to Hugh (and apologised for it being a bit dog eared) he absolutely loved...
The top 3 I have are:
The wild gourmets - Guy Grieve
Wilderness chef - Ray Mears
A Cook on the wild side - Hugh F-W (I think this was his first book from the 90's)
Since getting a thermo pen a few years back I find myself using it regularly to get meat to the perfect internal temp, I wouldn't be without one now. I also love my DeBuyer carbon steel frying pan now I've got a near perfect seasoning on it (after quite a few not so successful attempts). I...
It's not a chilli recipe but there's some great tips in this ragu video that might help with depth of flavour. The Fallow channel is worth watching for various cooking hints and tips I've found. I'm looking forward to visiting their restaurant next month.
Afternoon all. I have for sale 5 number 12 stoves which run off diesel/paraffin/kerosene. They are all new old stock so they have some storage marks. They are from the early 2000's. I would like £210 each for these plus p&p. They will be shipped via DPD. Any questions please ask away.
All the...
We bought our first house 4 months before lockdown and we were both furloughed over the summer. It allowed us to get the house and garden in order which kept us busy all summer long. I got made redundant at the end of 2020 which I had mixed emotions about. The job was great in a lot of ways but...
I just got around to getting some pictures of my hobo stove system. I built this in around 2010 after building several others this is the design I settled on and still gets used regularly. It has true multi fuel functionality being able to run on solid fuel, meths and also gas. What goes with it...
The original thread was awesome and I enjoyed seeing different people's take on hobo stoves. I remember seeing Gary's on his website in about 2008 and made one myself with a 10cm zebra billy. Since then I've made loads of different ones, most have been given away or traded. My favourite has...
