    decent scope mounts?

Thanks all - Xmas list duly amended. Re the rifle quality - it's fine for what I ask of it. It'll consistently group shots (with the open sights), and will entirely embed the pellets in the target backstop I made. Any more rifle would be a waste for what I need it for. Thanks again

    decent scope mounts?

Thanks all for the replies. Mine's a Gamo CF20, with the parallel grooves to mount the scope. The tube is 25mm dia. Re the existing ones - even when fully tightened, the scope doesn;t feel really secure. I'm fairly sure that pulling it in and out of a gunslip a few times would be enough to...

    decent scope mounts?

I was given a scope for my air rifle, nothing fancy but it's only a plinker so it doesn't matter. Whist the scope is fine in terms of magnification, it doesn't feel very securely attached to the rifle. I'm sure that after a bit of normal handling, it's going to get shifted off of zero (if...

    Glue Advice For Newbie Leatherworkers....

In my one and only leather-working project to date (repairing a leather jacket), I used Poundland superglue (umpteen tubes for a quid). It's done the trick and lasted.years. I was mildly surprised to see no mention of superglue in the thread below. Is it known as something else.in...

"poppers" for belt to swap buckles

Thanks all for the replies. Re the holes to adjust the waist size - is a hollow punch the normal tool to use?

"poppers" for belt to swap buckles

Hi all, apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, I did have a search... Anywho, I've ordered a leather strap to try making a belt. I want to be able to swap buckles, so I was intending to use poppers to form the loop that will keep the buckle on ( if that makes sense). A - can anyone...

Garden In The Hills by Elizabeth West - a book (strongly) recommended

I'm probably preaching to the choir, but I have just finished reading this, and absolutely loved it. Warm and funny, but without pulling punches about hw hard a life it is. For those unfamiliar, it's about a couple who bought a cottage in North Wales, and went off-grid, grew their own food...

    Eclipse, made in England

Hi No, afraid I didn;t think to do that, before gluing the scales on

    Eclipse, made in England

Interesting idea. Tho I'll say if someone's "re-purposed" another tool, they've done an incredibly neat job of it. There's some flex in the blade, but not as much as a saw. Agree the stamping of the name is in a very curious place. Thanks all, was just mildly curious. Perhaps I'll buy a...

    Eclipse, made in England

Glued some scales on, just need to oil them now. Any ideas what this was originally intended for? Butchers? The blade is over a foot long (!), and the guard/ferrule is pretty hefty. Cheers

    Eclipse, made in England

Maybe. I'm gluing some scales on it at the moment. Goodness knows what I'll use it for, it's enormous. Perhaps I shall start baking giant loaves of bread. Or hunting dinosaurs.

    Eclipse, made in England

Thanks both. It looks new-ish, sadly. I just liked the idea of it being made in England. Cheers

    Eclipse, made in England

Anyone know of this make? I bought a knife at a boot sale at the weekend. The handle was a mess (the end of it was broken off). Underneath where the scales would go, it had the name stamped. I paid the outrageous sum of £1, so doesn;t really matter if it's junk, but was wondering if anyone...

Lets hear your workspace tidy tips.

For those who want, but can't justify, the cost of fancy mechanics' drawers... (and by that, I mean the cabinets with lots of shallow drawers for spanners etc, not a greasemonkey's undercrackers) ...then 2nd hand shallow filing cabinets are a good alternative. Still not cheap (I paid about...

    Nissan Patrol?????

Can I ask what year and engine size X-Trail you are referring to above? I've been considering these as a possibility, and would appreciate the opinions of someone who's driven one (or more). I know they're not a "proper" 4x4, but they seem to tick a number of boxes I need, especially mpg...
