Clikstand for Trangia or Mini potstand

Anybody got a Clikstand for the Trangia burner that they want to part with, please? With windshield, preferably. I have lost the windshied/potstand for my Trangia Mini and think the Clikstand would make a good replacement. Or, another Mini Trangia potstand/windshield would do. Getting a...

    Woodland Edge Stove

On the second group buy in Feb 2007 I bought one of these stoves and later added the legs. It was the same month that I had major stomach surgery and since then I haven't eaten freshly cooked food. I no longer like the texture or taste of much of what I used to eat. In fact, I don't enjoy food...

Zen and the art of hammocking.

I've got that same lantern and it is good as ambient light, but I don't find it bright enough to read by. My eyes, however, are getting fairly old :) At present I have to use my headtorch on its brightest, 3 led setting but would prefer a hanging light to read by. I am thinking of either a...

    Woodland Edge Stove

Where do I go to sign up as a full member? What does it cost? Did the magazine ever get sorted? I vaguely remember paying for a year but only getting a few.

    Woodland Edge Stove

I can't access the classifieds page and I need to sell my Woodland Edge stove. I don't want to put it on eBay 'cos I'd rather it went to a bona fide bushcrafter. Any ideas where I can put it where it will be seen by the right people, please?

What are the essential Bushcraft books a man should own?

I don't think anyone has improved on the early ones for basic knowledge. Kephart, Nessmuk, Baden Powell and one other - probably a Ray Mears.

Visit to Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford

I would doubt that there is anyone there who uses the stuff but a private tour would be a good idea. You might then be able to handle part of the collection.

Visit to Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford

Are you sure that it is open? I went in August and the complete ethnographic section was closed for major building work and they didn't have a reopening date. On the arrangement of collection by type; they have done this in the Museum of Scotland (?) , Edinburgh. One of the best museums I...

My attempt at a cup lid

I bought a sheet of very thin aluminium from the non ferrous scrappy for a pound. Drew the lid shape using the inverted mug as a template and then free hand drew three lugs. Cut out and filed to shape. Bent the lugs with my fingers to just grip the cup. You don't need a lip all round or anything...

    Magazine

Does anybody have up to date information about the magazine beyond the printers going bust? I had a zipped file come and couldn't open it on my Mac. E mailed the sender of the zip file and told them it wouldn't open and have not heard anything.

food to carry - advice please

What does your screen name mean?

I'm a Clark and I got mine when I joined the army in '64. My dad was a nobby before me and my brother is another. The origins of the nickname seem to be lost, unless somebody knows differently, and it isn't obvious like the Dusty Millers, Chalky Whites, etc. I'm finding nowadays that younger...

    Ray Mears at Oakengates

I'm surprised that this hasn't been reported on already. I went to the theatre last night, full house, and listened to Ray speak for one and and a half hours without any boredom for me at all. He then took questions for twenty minutes and then signed books for God knows how long. Excellent...

Breakfast in the woods, and a funghi ID please :)

I once (30 years ago) went with a knowledgeable friend and collected small quantities of different funghi. I cooked each of them and didn't like any of them. I found them all much too strong tasting for me. Now I don't have to worry about what is edible, or not. I only take field mushrooms...

Lamp Oil or Paraffin for Garden Oil Torch

A sailor told me that lamp oil is paraffin that is well filtered and burns cleaner. He found it important because he was still using paraffin lamps on board and didn't enjoy cleaning the globes too often. Besides the issue of pollution, it probably doesn't matter in the garden.

    Polarguard 3D insulation Supplier

Hi I am looking for a UK supplier of the above. I need to modify my Ray Way sleeping quilt and once you have bought from them they no longer respond to emails. I have started sleeping cold and the obvious thing to do is to remove the insulation through the foot of the quilt and replace it...
