    Expedition Menus

Where I go, the wild food has worked for me everytime, and over the years it has become a larger part of my diet when out and about, not saying that I dont bring other food, but saves a lot of humping stuff around keeping kit light, plus Lidl isnt that far away (few hours stroll) if theres...

    In Romania

Thanks for the link, I did some driving from Poland to Croatia and that part of Europe seemed very nice with large open land and forests, but have never been to Romania. I am hoping to get to Eastern Europe within the next two years for some walking and bushcrafting. Whats the situation like...

    Lobsterpots

Thats a cool idea, I think that I would loose it though where I fish! But I suppose you could use a hand bearing compass to fix position of pots or even more hitech, handheld GPS maybe.:D

    Lobsterpots

You could always pop them under the water anchored with no bouy, and snorkel down to them for servicing with a mesh back to swap bait for catch, I doubt they would go missing then!

    Lobsterpots

I got into it by making friends with the local potter who fishes the area in front of my bushcrafty spot, located some stolen pots he lost a few years back which were in the woods, so he let me sling a couple out with my net where he goes but I never knew about paying for a patch. It might be...

    Lobsterpots

Its perfectly fine in most places to put out lobster pots, you have to conform to UK "in size law", and you can not sell your catch commercially (for that the licence is needed). Some places however may have restrictions and it is best to get in touch with your local authority first to be on the...

    Expedition Menus

Cheers for a good thread, I should get some good ideas from this one! What I would take varys from different places, but the place I normally go I get to by canoe and usually stay for no less than a week, so heres what I would think about taking: Oats, Flour, Dried milk, Sugar, Salt...

    Moments of irritation

Anything that sucks blood or bites leaving itchy marks - not very keen on, but apart from that, havent come into any other real annoyances, except for those created by myself, like turning the torch off and putting it down in the dark , then having to find it again or root out the...

    feed myself fishing

In the sea I use a 20m monofilament gill net, definitly didnt go back to the rod, one problem with a gill net though is if you snag it on a rock and you have to cut part of it off, it will carry on fishing forever, pointlessly killing so make sure you have a snorkel handy just in case. Its great...
