its poor form and i think that people who do that sort of thing want to make themselves something they aren't. either to make themselves feel better or for some need they can't fulfill.
whilst irritating they deserve at least a little sympathy that they must tell such mistruths to make them feel better

There was an American woman who wrote about meeting a 'first contact ' tribe of Australian aborigines in the outback.

A scan through it showed it full of new age rubbish and obviously distorted and drew on simpler encounters she had

I may have read that (or the first few chapters anyway) did she burn all her clothes and gear before she went naked into the bush?

Tis nothing new... people start off with the best intentions of acheiving their goal but then real life hits them and they find they can't cope with it.

However some feel that the pressure of not wanting to let others down almost as great so they fake it.

There was a well recorded case of a non stop round the world sailor (I can't remember his name) faked his voyage and instead of sailing round the world he spent the time pootling round the atlantic. Then when it was time to come back he killed himself by jumping overboard.

As Mesquire says.. Nothing new.. *cough*Walden*cough*
Yeah - but - I would not want to hang out at the pond either...it is right by a main road, has a realy high uric acid content (in summer) and is just too convenient for Boston and the Oyster reserauny any way..........

There will always be fakers, just trying to look better than they realy are.
By all means "big-up" what you HAVE actually done....but do not boast of things you HAVE NOT done ...you will be found out!

A real shame - I enjoyed his videos.

I thought the idea of having a dog with you was a good one! Would have given him a lot of company.

Ach well.
