Looks delicious.

I'm gonna go a buy a nice cut of beef tomorrow and have a go at making some in the oven, I've never made any before so it should be interesting:rolleyes: .

Last year at the moot was the first time I'd ever tried beef-jerky, its great! Anyone know of a decent online supplier for the stuff? Preferably without special-recipe flavouring  Feel free to PM me.

Thanks for sharing your picture and making me hungry!

I'm doing a batch of mine tomoorw Sean - I'll save you a bag of mine and we can compare :). As it happens we have a huge lump of kudu biltong at the moment if you fancy some of that too?

Ash - you are welcome to a bag if you want? Mine errs on the spicy though :)

I'll bring some biltong to the moot from the South African shop in Truro. I was brought up on the stuff growing up in SA, you can't beat it!!!! Although that jerky looks pretty tasty too Singeblaster :D

I would love some thanks! I don't usually like spicy/hot foods, but I would love to try it.

Rhoda I would also love to try some of that Biltong aswell sometime, I don't have any dried meat myself, I could perhaps make and bring some Kendall mint cake to trade and share. I only know how to make that thanks to Red! :You_Rock_

PS. Hows the head feeling Rho? :p

Bung me your address by PM Nightwalker and I'll parcel some up and send it off. I'll put some biltong in too if you aren't averse to some kudu?

mmmm bacon....................thats the best bit!

Got a bowl full of jerky in the fridge ready for bagging - all your fault John :) Doesnt look a bit like yours though - mine is more "stick like" due to the cuts I make. I go for a "cross grain" cut so it crumbles as you chew :)

I made some yesterday and finished it this morning. :D
To be fair there wasn't much there, I was just trying it out and also bought some pre-made jerky a couple of days ago.
I home made stuff was less than half the price and about 100x nicer!

I think i'll take a trip down the butchers tomorrow and get some more meat, I think he gets some venison now and again which I hear makes good jerky. Has anyone ever used rabit or lamb?

I think I may have jerky-mania at the moment!!!
