After hearing peoples varied tastes in other music-inspired threads and seeing avatars dedicated to everything from the bass-clef to Iron Maiden, I thought it was time everyone pinned their colours to the mast!

If you could only listen to one style of music for the rest of your life, what would it be?
We're not getting into the finer distinctions between death-industrial-thrash-metal and avante-extreme-noise here, just the broad brushstrokes!

For me it would be blues, as long as I could sneak some AC-DC and Led Zeppelin under that umbrella!

I'd go for classic British heavy rock, a la Deep Purple, Rainbow, Black Sabbath etc. Well, maybe include some non-British stuff as well! Couldn't really do without AC/DC.

Thats a tough one, as music can be played to what mood you are in or even influence your mood, dont drive a car while listening to hard trance or gabba techno, you will get a ban. I tend to like a variety of music, and find myself listening to pretty much anything that interests me, to narrow it to one style of music I would have to choose something that has a vast collection to its name, like clasical music, as it can take you somewhere else or lift your mood, or something that like detroit techno.

I chose World. The reason, well if I were only allowed one kind of music I'd want it it be infinately varied, and that is what I find appealing about World music.:p

Blues, rock and jazz could also be argued to be forms of "folk" music, although perhaps not in the sense that the term is commonly used...

I try not to categorise music beyond "good" and "bad". No prizes for guessing which I'd choose. ;)

Rock and Metal! All the way. Although I do quite like classical music, some of it is pretty heavy as well. I can listen to most things, techno and garage (is there a difference?) doesn't do it for me though, sounds like a bloody car alarm!

I reckon that something like Bach's Toccata and Fugue or Wagner's Ride of the Valkyrie is the heavy metal of their time, while the Strauss' Viennese waltzes are 19th Century disco music. :D

BTW, do I get the impression that we are running out of Bushcrafty things to discuss? :)

I reluctantly went for dance and expected to be the only one. Judging by my music collection at home I`d say about 80% of it is dance, I used to be a club dj in my prime so I`ve got a collection of over 1000 vinyls in my cellar. I`ll listen to anything I suppose apart from heavy metal, never really understood the attraction of it. But those who do listen to metal would say the same about dance music.
Was heavily into the Happy Mondays and Stones Roses in the 90s so I like my bands too. The ipod`s currently got Beatles, Fratellis, Editors, Pigeon Detectives, Kooks, Killers, The Fray, Kasabien, Arctic Monkeys and loads of dance tracks aswell.

I couldn`t listen to one type of music for too long as I get bored to easily. I`ll buy a new album then listen to it over and over again for about three weeks then put it away for six months.

Starts mantra......

ROCK:banghead: ....ROCK....:banghead: .....ROCK:banghead:

Not so keen on the "let's see how much noise we can make out of these intruments" type ala Slipknot and the type but Ozzy and marilyn manson are prefered driving music.

Bluesy rock with the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn

i've even reached the age that i don't care that i find the new take that stuff ok. form an orderly queue to beat me..............

Rock/Metal - Huge range of music types within it. Like In flames ect and Kyuss as well as the mighty priest/maiden. Most types of music have had the metal twist to it. Like the levelers and some folk too. But to be honest just lisen to anything nowerdays.
