In connection with the F1- drying paint thread, I just wonder - what do you watch on TV, and which series do you find enjoyable?

We do not TV programmes as such. No Sky, Discovery, no local TV station. We download everything, plus have a subscription on Netflix.

I watch BBC news, imo still the least politically twisted news.
Series?
Of the ones you might recognize, I enjoyed Peaky Blinders immensely. Looking forward next season!
I find most series less interesting with each season, but not PB!
War and Peace was awesome. McMafia - superb.
Narcos is good.
Versailles was good, but it got the 'lets squeeze it dry' syndrome now.
Sweden, Norway and Iceland has done some fab series.

We like cookery shows too. Both British and Swedish..
Great British Bake Off is awesome. So much talent!

Me and my missus have just discovered Alone, which everyone probably already knows about, but we were late to the party :)

GBBO and Masterchef are also awesome. These are pretty much the only things we watch today really. I can recommend a lot of good books though.

I would be happy if you started a new thread bout books!
Running out of ideas what new books to read, so I have re reading.

GBBO, you prefer the old or the new?
I prefer the new one, as I could not stand those two women. Mel and Sue...

Sandi the Dane and Noel are more in my taste.

We don't have a TV at home but when I stay in hotels with work I usually just put on the travel channel. They normally show a Ray program and another program based in Alaska most evenings I've found.

It's official - we've run out of things to talk about.
What's next? What's your favourite brand of cola?

Pepsi. Full fat.

TV and books not good topics? What? Most people watch TV, be it 'standard" Tv or over the Internet.
Some people (still) read books.
If you do not watch TV or read any books, no need to comment?

well I started a thread on good youtube channels :)

TV = bottom, red dwarf, young ones, new statesman, porridge, allo allo, open all hours. All are old programs but possibly found on the internet these days?

Don't like any cola, if I'm forced to drink fizzy things fanta or sprite...

Those were good.
Many of those old series would be impossible to screen today.
You know, the PC today.........

PC has killed off humor.
Has anybody seen Sasha Cohens latest?

With soda, all of them, my problem is the sweetness.
We have a US product that is basically carbonated water with flavourings.
Zero sugar.
They have one with a cola flavor, superb to mix that one and Coke/Pepsi, 50/50.

I used to like the channel but the last few years its more reality tv and its annoying.
I blame les stroud, the father of reality tv and the selfie stick hehe.

The only tv shows i have enjoyed are game of thrones and taboo
Even some of the reality tv looks false and scripted with dramatic narration added where it is deemed the audience needs relief from the mundane:O_O:

Saw an episode of a WW2 archeology series ( British ) where they were in one of the Baltic republics.

It was scripted for sure. The tension between members, a bit if time stress, the lot.
Bad TV.

Quite true, they would not be allowed on TV today, not enough swearing in them, and people laughed at them, that isn't allowed anymore.

I used to like the Alaska shows, but I got fed up with the induced drama, tended to spoil the show, just watched one now, where a young lady out in a boat on her own(except for the camera crew) was struggling to land a fish, almost collapsing at the end, if you watch the way they are dressed you can see that what you are looking at is stage managed, as their clothes change from one scene to another..........................a shame really.
I can't wait till Google, Facebook or the like start running the TV, as I wont pay and I wont miss it, plenty to do without having to watch the box.
I have never drank a Coke, Pepsi or other similar concoction, its beer all the way for me, or a nice cup of T.

Forged in fire is watchable...if you accept important steps of smithing are missing.
Even that creates drama where there is none.
Prefer man at arms reforged on youtube

Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones, Endevour, Vikings, Penny Dreadful, Ripper Street, Lucifer, American Gods, Taboo, The Last Kingdom, Preacher, Being Human, Black Mirror, Battlestar Galactica (2004 series),Rome, all great tv shows. I don't watch "Reality TV", "Celebrity shows" are just cheap rubbish. IMHO :)

Youtube has some really good programmes.

There is a Japanese TV station ( NHK World) that has some awesome tuff.
Begin Japanology, and others.

I never warmed to Endeavor. Something was missing compared to Inspector Morse, and I do not mean the main actor.
Truly loved John Thaw..
Whatever role he did, it was gold.
