Woodcock sign

Disturbed a Woodcock feeding on a path today. This is the signs left by it.

In addition to the footprints, you can see the holes where it was probing with it's bill for invertebrates.

Lovely, thanks for that. I see them around quite a bit (well the males roding), but not seen any sign. I'll know what to look out for now.

They have a very distinctive call, almost frog-like.
