Tidying flesh side of leather?

I'm planning to make some women's vanity mirrors in leather in the shape of a booklet.
Rather that double the leather up on the non-mirror side i was just going to leave it single thickness but this will mean the flesh side is exposed.
Should i use gum trag to finish it off like the edges?

You could buff the flesh side as i have just done for a razor strop. Sand the face using progressivly finer emery cloth then run over it with some fine wire wool and you could always then rub some neats foot oil into it for a nice finish.

neats foot oil will ruin it! it stinks and remains dull, okay for working leather but surely not a vanity mirror?
use either traganth or carnauba wax and burnishing.
