Tadpole Spoon

This is the obligatory “my first spoon Post”
I picked up the wood this time last year, and since then I have been trying to find the time to make a spoon. Well here it is. It took two hours in total, Not all that the same time, rain stopped play twice
The wood is Elder, and it has been seasoning in my mini shed for about a year. I made the spoon using, an axe, a Clipper, and two grades of sandpaper.
Until I pick up a spoon knife from Axminster tools, some time toward the end of April, my spoon(s) will be by necessity long and shallow. this one is finished with one coat of olive oil.
The pattern for this spoon was taken from a spoon in my daughters toy kitchen set from Ikea.




I started my second spoon to day and sadly it is no where near as good as this one, talk about beginners luck

The great thing about a wood spoon is if you don't like it you can use it to heat water for a cuppa tea.
