This weeks video is a simple overview of solar power. It's the first in a new series and part of our "self sufficiency" drive (we've covered water, heating, cooking and lighting before)

I know many people here are solar savvy but if anyone wants a simple introduction into how a solar system works (including whilst out Bushcrafting or camping), here it is

Hi Steve! I could but they aren't necessarily the best choices. We plan to do future videos on selecting & sizing components, but if it helps, let me know what you want to achieve & I can point to components that are suitable

It seems that there's a lot of interest in solar power (both simple, mobile and whole house!), do we are expanding our "simple solar" video into a full series

This week's episode takes a look at solar panels - the types, which ones are best, how to size them, where to install them & how to wire them up.

Oh yes and I set fire to metal :campfire:

Enjoyed these.

Is there any suitable 'one stop shops' that people can recommend for solar set ups , from small to larger scale set ups.

When you say "one stop shops", do you mean single retailers or items like power stations that combine battery, charge controller & inverter?

Is there much difference and variance of quality or functionality of Power stations? There seems to be quite a few options out there with some known names and some less well names.

In summary - is it worth it paying for known named brands? or are you paying for the brand awareness and advertising campaign?

I'm thinking for a usable amount of solar panels ( say Three ) and a power station to accommodate that i'm probably looking at around / just under £1k. Sound about right. ?

There are significant differences yes, and in panels too. We have a video in edit right now on the subject. The best deals vary all the time but if anyone want to know where the current bargains are, I'm happy to let them know by DM. I also have some discount codes for various manufacturers which helps ;)

£1k is a sensible budget
