Thought I'd try to distill some russian oil. I didn't have much birch bark - and most of it was pretty thin - so I only got a small blob, surrounded by milky liquid that I presume is water from the bark and the clay I used to clog the end. But still enough for an experiment - namely glue. Do I just melt it on and leave it to dry? Or mix it with charcoal like resin? Any other uses?

Suggestions for something to actually glue would be good also. I am without knapping skills so an arrowhead is out of the question. All I can think of is a hook to a fishing line.

I have pictures of the process but its not a particularly difficult one.

I of course used metal tins to do this. Ray mentions on wild foods it is not known how it was done in primitive times. Any ideas?
