Well it wasn't raining ! so passing through Settle I picked up a pack of Hotties (£3:20) from Settle coal co. Having tried them in the Folding Firebox and the garden Minions they're superb especially where there's no local wood. Drove to Horton in Ribblesdale then along the dead end road to High Birkwith, the tarmack stopped and I carried on up a track, here's looking back from where I stopped just before the Bridalway (no vehicles)

Over 20 years ago I asked the Farmer if he'd mind me sleeping here "what yer want to do that for"
"well it's out of the wind and sheltered if it's raining" I replied "you must be mad yer daft Bu**er
if you let me know I could drop a bale of straw off with the quad" his reply
Just goes to show if you don't ask, you'll never know

I used 1/2 a Hottie cut into x2 and each cut length ways, lit with Birch bark and a few Birch sticks
they burnt for 1-3/4 hour and the Firebox was still hot

I thought this was a trailer for the long-promised (but frankly unwelcome) film version of the delightful 1970's Catweasel series.

Bushcraft or Bimball does not do your adventure justice.
