An expert will be along shortly however in the meantime do you have more than one browser on your PC? If not try a different one, I'd recommend Chrome, if for no other reason than you do not have to faff about with Adobe Flash anymore. :)

I'll second that, install Chrome and take a few minutes to get used to it. It's so smooth compared to IE

i would be concerned about the underlying issue

assuming youre running windows 7

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_stop_AppHangB1_on_Windows_7

Step 1:
Check the status of the issue in safe mode (safe mode with networking if this happens while browsing Internet).

Step 2:
If the issue does not occur in safe mode or safe mode with networking then place the computer in clean boot state and check if helps you fix this issue.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7:

1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
5. Click OK.
6. When you are prompted, click Restart.
7. After the computer starts, check if the issue is fixed.

firefox with noscript serves me well- give it a shot the next time

Leave Linux alone unless you are computer savvy.

Chrome is good, I also use Opera, Firefox and Torch browsers. Torch has a very good built in torrent download manager and the browser is based upon Chrome.

The underlying issue would be a 3rd party toolbar/addon installed to IE as some research on the hang type (135168) suggests. reset.reinstalling IE would fix this issue.
